I think back to my adolescence and the issues with masturbation with my struggles to "master myself" that I still carry to this day. I've told my crazy line of thinking before, but I'll reiterate.
I was always taught that if you have sex in your mind, it is just as bad as doing the real thing...
The real thing is much better.
My advice? Relax and ask yourself why God would really care if you gave yourself pleasure. I think people have been blaspheming God, by making him out to be a harsh meddler in natural human behavior. Isn't it more likely for a supreme being to be loving and beneficent when we meet our final end? He made us sexual and so He wants us to be sexual.

I realize that this may be just a little off subject:
Paul Dunn used to say to missionaries, "If you look once, you're a man. If you look twice you're not a missionary".
Fine, but what if I have a photographic memory? : (
I get the impression most GA's have a PM. Call me broke, but I just don't have those kinds of pictures pop up in my mind unless I consciously pull them up - it still seems to by my choice. I can't give anyone credit but myself.
Regardless, next time the congregation begins to sing a hymn, just for fun muse over what they were all just thinking about.
I echo harmony. If they don't ask, why tell them anything at all?
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
Well Scottie, if you and your GF get married and you divide the responsibility to give "the talk" amongst yourselves depending on the sex of the child, are you willing to let her guilt trip your daughters and make them sexually repressed as all of us here were in childhood?
As for your second assumption, I think girls lie more about masturbating than boys do... It's such a taboo that it's not usually talked about even among girls; of course no girl is going to tell you about it. I bet your girlfriend does it, though! (evil grin)

Who Knows wrote:why did you limit this to just sons, whynot daughters?
Two reasons...
1. Daughters are the mother's realm. Just as I don't want her in there telling my son's "Oh, how hard can it be?? Just don't do it.", I don't want to be in there telling my daughters anything about female sexuality. Mothers just don't know what it's like to be a teenage boy and fathers don't know what it's like to be a teenage girl.
2. I honestly don't think girls have the same problems with masturbating that boys do. From what I've been able to gather, girls may try it and have fun with it, but there is no need to release like a boy has. I know PLENTY of women that claim to have never tried it at all. I don't know one single man that claims to never have done it. Women of the board, feel free to correct me as needed here...
Girls masturbate and can bring themselves to have an orgasm. They typically don't do it as much as boys and not in as large a percentage but they do it.
I have gone from telling them it was a sin (my older ones) to telling them that it is not that big of a deal, that almost everyone (for boys) does it and if they are not spending hours on end doing it and it is a once in a while thing they should not get to hung up about it.
But I do have concerns if they are preoccupied with it, if they watch porn while doing it or if it is taking a lot of time from other worth while activities.
Like Scottie, when I was young and had this issue I thought I was the biggest pervert sinner in my ward, stake and high school and that I was the only kid that did it. I have and had a lot of self worth issues and sexual confusion in my adult life, I believe partly because of this.

Nope... not broke!
Fabulous! :-)

What could be more worth while?
Also, what's the big deal about porn? Porn makes it better.
God belief is for people who don't want to live life on the universe's terms.
I've told my boys that if the bishop ever asks them questions they find inappropriate, they are to tell him to talk to me about it. I do not want some stranger asking them the most private of questions.
As for the big M, I just have told them that they shouldn't obsess about it either way. If it's a major preoccupation or is causing them massive amounts of guilt, they need to calm down and put it in perspective.
