Why settle for imported wood? I'm sure there are much more expensive building materials. I wonder how much it'd cost to build a temple out of ivory. I'm sure there's always some expense that is spared. Wonder why that is. I hope they aren't doing it to gyp the Lord.

No I think GOLD would be better. Solid gold, the Lord will grant many blessings after he sees his house of gold.

I think the interior temple decoration tends to gaudiness, anyway. I love simplicity, like shaker furniture -

It isn't my job to know how it is spent. Tithing is my acknowledgement to the Lord taht all I have is what He has given me. My little stack of bills could be burned and it wouldn't matter.

The Lord doesn't require burnt offerings. He allows the money to be spent on chapels, and temples, and schools and humanitarian aid. I know how it is spent.

You evidently haven't seen the interior of any of the newer temples. Those built in the 1800's tend to the style of the day. T

I pay my Tithing. I know it goes to things like this. I accept it primarily because there is no more worthy cause than my Creator, not even the poor. I love Temples and value them.

I think most of those who complain about Temples have a reasonable way to object. Stop going. In fact protest by not visiting Temples or wanting to (this should nip the complaints about people not being allowed in for Temple Weddings in the bud as well).

Don't tell me how to spend my money and I won't tell you how to spend yours.

The Washington DC temple interior decoration is gaudy (or at least was when I was last attending in the early nineties). It looked like it was decorated by someone with more money than taste.

Isn't it funny how the Creator seems to always end up wanting lots of money spent in lavish ways?

I would think the creator or whoever would want everyone to have roof over their heads and food in their belly, instead of lavish temples built for them, when they never visit anyway.

Hi Nehor. :)

I read this a few times now and wonder if your view is widely held by LDS. Is there scripture, doctrine, something that informs LDS that they are to care and love more for building up a temple rather than feeding the poor? Doesn't that sort of flip Christian notions on its head? Or not?

Help me understand. And, yes, I think you can spend your money however you so choose. I have no problem with it. I'm just curious about the mindset.
