Hi Walmart...
First, I saw nothing that mentioned anything about the Lighthouse Ministry... not a word.
There are many members who come across the lighthouse ministry video, the godmakers or the Bible vs the Book of Mormon. They are full of antimormon rhetoric. What the FAIR video attempts to do is to inform people that the issues discussed in the lighthouse videos are not so clear cut as they make them out to be. Also, the FAIR videos also shed light on the Bible, that the Bible is not based on solid evidence but also on faith as is the Book of Mormon.
I have no issue with folks presenting factual information... the FAIR video clip was misleading to say the least. These apologists, I feel quite certain, know they are presenting material that is twisting or manipulating the truth. To use outdated, inaccurate, obsolete material as a source while pretending it is accepted by scholars is not responsible, (to say the least).
You see truthdancer, you will need to apply the same criticism to antimormon videos also, ie, the lighthouse ministry videos. Something that I have not seen from critics such as yourself but perhaps I have overlooked your criticism of lighthouse videos.
If I saw a lighthouse ministry video (I have never seen one), that was misleading with scholars purposely distorting truth I would be equally disturbed.
I have shared my beliefs on the Bible over the years but basically, I think it is written by various men over the ages. It is a document filled with myth, stories, ideas, laws, beliefs, etc. etc. etc., all from the perspective of the writers.
To be honest the argument that, because the Bible is believed even though it is filled with untruths, myths, inaccuracies, and contradictions, the Book of Mormon should be too, is rather odd in my opinion.
