I understand. I was merely thinking aloud, as well. I don't look to the Bible for explanations of the world. Yet, I'm okay that you do. If I did look to the Bible to incorporate an understanding of the story you linked I would think of Jesus and how he would be pleased as this is only one small step that draws nearer to peace and love -- I can only imagine any charity that brings groups together to show commonalities, and reminders that humanity should not be divided into sects is something that Christians would embrace. Of course I'm just guessing here. ;)
Whoever told you I look to the Bible for expanations? I most certainly do not. I only know of what is in the Bible and was discussing it as it is philosophical rather than literal. I veeiw the world far much differently than what the Bible or any other material object would define. I follow my intuition. I feel everything and I mean everything (the everything), is far more complicated and amazing than we can comprehend. I see no harm in believing in things that might not make sense because nothing makes sense. Yet it does at the same time. It is just so WOW. I do not have the appropriate words to explain.

This is a very interesting question. For years, the Church taught that "the great whore" was the Catholic Church, and the "the true Church of the Lamb" was the LDS Church. I remember this being taught in Sunday School and in seminary.
Now, the Church has backed off that stance, since it seems to be streamlining in with "mainstream" Christian churches.
Did the church really teach that? When I was younger, I thought it was the catholic church. I kind of grew out of that though.

I apologize, I thought you referencing Revelations and tying it into current events spoke to that possibility. I don't care if you do or do not.

I often find myself incapable of adequately expressing my thoughts. I, although, find that I believe in very little if it doesn't "make sense". I can't grasp onto one proposition because of contradictions that could likewise be feasible. Yet, I understand your sentiment. I agree that the world is very "WOW"!

I don't know if it was ever "official" doctrine, but yes, it was preached from the pulpit. Maybe one of our historians can help us out here. Wasn't it one of the quorum of the 12 that made this analogy? I want to say it was Packer, but I could be wrong.

It comes from McConkie's Mormon Doctrine. It's one of the things that got him in trouble, if I remember right.
