25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing.
· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby.
· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child.
· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy.)
· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career.
· 7.9% of women want no (more) children.
· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health.
· 2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health.
And:
Why women have abortions
1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).
One would have to be forgiven for concluding, from the above data, that abortion was, for the feminist movement and the social Left, never about the life and health of the mother, but about social transformation.

I am just very concerned about religious idiots who seek to take away a woman's right to have an abortion, whether or not it is used as a Hail Mary .
No such "right" exists in the Constitution, or ever could, given the philosophical context and meaning this term has within that document and the ideas from which it was derived.

Roe v. Wade is bad law. Even those who support abortion think that the argument was weak and badly-founded. I have heard abortion supporters wanting to retry it on a different basis though they vary on what basis to use. Then again I don't think women have a right to have an abortion any more then I think being the parent of a child gives the parent the right to snuff out that child's life at will.
