You and execrable Spong need to get over yourselves. Christians are not required to believe that Judaism/Israelite religion/Hebrew religion had everything right before the advent of Jesus Christ. Moreover, if you actually bothered to read the Bible, instead of Spong's cliff notes, then you would see that belief in bodily resurrection goes back at least as far as the 8th century B.C. See Isaiah.

When will pretentious liberals see the truth??

Thanks for your opinin CC. However, I'm not sure that you understand the point that I'm atempting to make, that is:

Whether writen in the Old Testament or the New Testament, we are reading a collection of thought, belief and practices of the peoples of their time. As will others in the future sift through our records. Just the way it is. Helps the new learn from the old--some to-dos, some not-to-dos.

In my seriously considered opinion (IMSCO) I think it is time to set aside the mythologies and fantasias of those books, and accept the theory of there being NO "God" as taught in the Old Testament & the New Testament.

The "God" term was, and is, simply a descriptive word of POWER that is now recognized as Universal, Scientific laws/principles that can be, but not always are, used to advance society/humanity to live better, more charitable lives.

As was the hope of ancients--"the Lion laying down with the Lamb." And, the "Good News" taught by THE man Jesus of Nazareth.

Do you, CC, have trouble having faith in the social, humanitarian teachings of Jesus? If so why? If not, don't you see we have more in common than not?

Warm regards,

Roger
Have you noticed what a beautiful day it is? Some can't...
