Hey, sorry bcspace. I thought my swearing and being rude would be ironic based upon the unique juxtaposition it held in contrast to my OP.
Now I'll really repent. I won't joke around with you anymore.

Exactly how do you think Jesus treated people with contempt and condescension?
Ever read Matthew 23?

Is there a certain part of the Savior's scathing denunciation of the Scribes and Pharisees that applies to me? Perhaps the whole thing.
I'm being serious. And Sincere. Help me out.

Ever read 1st Corinthians 13?
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Yes, I have. Christ called them on the carpet for their self-righteousness and their rejection of Him. I see no contempt or condescension. Rather, I see the Savior grieving the wickedness of those whom He would gladly have saved had they accepted Him.
Does this verse sound like contempt, the kind Lamanite is unhappy about? " O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!"
I see a sorrowful and loving Christ. Apparently, you do not.
You seem to be saying that, as a follower of Jesus, you have the right to treat someone with condescension and contempt. I don't think that was Christ's message to His disciples. Do you?

I can't tell you how much this chapter means to me. I often fall short, but it really is central to my personal development.

I'm quite partial to Matthew 5, especially the let your light shine part.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Perhaps. I consider many apostates and ex mos to be in the same position. Are you one of them?

It's a good one no doubt. But it would be wrong to cling to the one and ignore any others.

OK, I think I'm finally figuring you out. You seem to believe that apostates and exmos deserve, nay demand, your contempt and condescension. It's the Christlike thing to do, after all.
I think you are seriously misreading the Savior.
Sione, I wouldn't worry. You're in the right place. Sometimes we need a little reminder of that, don't we?

Do you ever pay any attention to who you're directing your comments to?
