What if I'm creepin while your sleepin? Is violence the answer?
For a lot of the world violence is as common and accepted as a part of cultural norms. I was beat with a closed fist until I passed out since I was a boy. I took that lesson out into the world.
Jesus Christ has shown me a new way, and made it possible to change through the transformative powers of the Atonement.
Now, I'm a work in progress. But as big as my temper is; my heart is even bigger, and my smile is even bigger than that. I want to see people happy. I want them to have joy. And I expect the same from others. And when I feel threatened, that closed fist seems like it's on its way, so I lash out first. Because I'm capable physically and mentally of some crazy crap!
Me and God are working it out. Ask me in 5 years how we're doing.

I couldn't help but notice that threats of physical violence were vibrating out of this thread.
If I were you, Shades, this is one poster (Lamanite) I would totally block from the board.

I have to agree Shades. I was vibrating in a way so as to emit a high pitch frequency all the way to Dresden
As soon as you boot me then I'll make a sock puppet named Lamanoot! A much more stable version of myself.
If you need to boot me that's cool. I enjoyed our discussions. You're a good guy no matter what DCP says about you. ;)

I would get along great with all of you guys if you would treat me and others with the respect our simple humanity deserves.
I don't know that I've ever agreed with one word Ray has ever said. But I enjoy our dialogue and I think the feeling is reciprocated.
I love talking to Scottie and cinepro. They provide me with new angles and perspectives with which to view my theology. And never once have I threatened any of them. You know why? Because they are civil, and interested in a mutually beneficial dialogue. And I'm sure if I had lunch with them, they would speak to me just as they speak to me on the boards. And where I'm from that deserves respect.
I could go on. The point is, I'm a pussycat. I try real hard to love others like the Savior commanded. You can't know what I've seen or what I've been through. Have you ever seen what a .45 S&W hollow point does to human flesh. It's not great. It leaves an impression on the psyche. But through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I'm am developing into a better man.
I have my moments. But usually cooler heads prevail before I totally revert back into a Monster. And now, I just wish you could forgive me for being so terrible today.

How often do you have these "Come to Jesus" moments?
Sorry, but you are untrustworthy.

Where did the corporate law reference go? No corporate lawyer is going to get you out of a bankruptcy. lol
So, you blame me and I guess, by implication, the other poster on MAD that you threatened, for your problems. Nice try!
There is no reason to bring anyone else into this. You are on your own.
I actually care little what you have been through or what you have seen, to tell you the truth. But, I am glad you are in the Church where you feel you can keep control of yourself. Though, I don't personally even trust that will be enough for you, without some serious help from some real therapy. I hope your wife and kids don't see what you have posted here today, this Sabbath morning.
I have had a gun put to my head, then cocked. I told the guy, without blinking an eye, to go ahead and shoot. I wouldn't have even known I had been killed. You really don't scare me, Lamanite. I am not scared of dying at all. Your threats of .45s and assault rifles don't scare me. They really should embarrass you, however. Will you partake of the sacrament today?
Who edited that post? And why? Because whoever did it was trying to make me look foolish. That wasn't very smart of whomever took the liberty of editing that. Again, was it you?
Also, I am not Matthew Cowley. I don't get turned on by people who can flip so suddenly and then try to use the Gospel in order to excuse themselves. Cowley got a kick out of that, but it doesn't do anything for me. Sorry.
First, does your wife know about these outbursts? You don't have to answer that. But, it makes me wonder. Do the closest people to you know of this side of your character? Have they suggested that you get help? Great, go to church, ask for forgiveness, feel the spirit and try to get your life in order. That would be great. I submit, however, that it isn't enough. You are dangerous to people around you and you may find yourself never living with your family again. The atonement seems to be taking effect on you very slowly. Add a therapist in to the mix and maybe you can get some help.
Second, forgive yourself, and hope God forgives you and hope your kids never read what you wrote today. You don't need forgiveness from me. I am the least of your worries. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say.
Really. Get help.
Oh, and choose your spots in which to defend your religion. You can't be an apologist about everything. You aren't that knowledgeable. That is what you young guys seem to be misunderstanding. If you are jumping into an area you know little about, jump in to learn, rather than to defend. There are a lot of very smart people here, a lot smarter than I am, that you could learn from.
Apologetics is a waste of time. Scratch is right in his advise to your friend. You should be reading to learn, rather than to figure out how to use what you are reading to further defend something that can only be taken on faith, anyway.
Well....tell me about the edit and we will go from there. Who did that?

I'm truly sorry, Lamanite, but what you wrote above doesn't make sense either: the Supreme Courts' jurisprudence? WTF?

It's people like you, Lamanite, who give weapons owners/collectors a bad name. In one breath you're talking about a lack of intellectually honest discussion on this board and in the next breath your swinging a semi-automatic weapon around in your posts as a substitute for swinging your brain. See what a big man I am? I got a AR 15 with a night scope and whatever. Good for you, buddy. And then you raise the issue of your childhood as an excuse.
What utter and unstable nonsense.

Of course there are exceptions to what I posted. I didn't want to water down the impact by referencing them all. Suffice it to say that violence is only justified under threat of immediate bodily harm.
You see, everything you read here is just that--only words. An insult is not "immediate bodily harm." Therefore, you are not justified to threaten violence. Disrespect is likewise not "immediate bodily harm." You again are not justified to threaten violence.
Please learn that it's okay to be insulted. Please also learn that it's okay to be disrespected.
I enjoyed our discussions. You're a good guy no matter what DCP says about you. ;)
Thank you. :-)
