I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

That NSA-type monitoring and surveillance system can be very demanding in its operation and maintenance. However, the information it can deliver regarding enemies and potential enemies of the Church and its subsidiaries is staggering. As has been pointed out, the hardest thing to do is to decide which enemies pose the greatest threat and require human analysis of the data. The rest is sorted into a vast array of electronic dossiers. Keeping this all a secret is relatively easy when you have a fine team of BYU security covert operations graduates, who take very seriously the oaths they have sworn and knowing full well the penalties which will ensue should they try to break their oaths via the terminator chip that has surgically been implanted in each Church agent.

Funny. Did you read the articles Ray posted? It seems rather well-documented, not conspiracy theory paranoia.

And since a BYU professor admitted to the church's monitoring 1500 websites, it is no wonder that many here prefer to post as "anonymous cowards."

Scratch mentioned in another thread that certain parties were trying to determine what computer he posted from, and figure out who he is in real life.

I imagine there might be a file on the infamous Doctor Scratch, or perhaps the infamous Dr. Shades. My question is:

Do you suspect they have a file on you?

and

Are you worried that someone will try to find out who you are?

Hmm, I live in United States and sleep like a baby every night...
Where do you live?
Let me guess....
Bagdad or Kabul?

Generally speaking, most babies don't sleep real well. They mostly nap for a few hours. That's why many parents of newborn babies tend to look quite sleep deprived for the first 6 months or so.

Just sayin'. Maybe it would be more accurate to say you sleep like a cat in a pool of warm sunshine.

I, on the other hand, fight insomnia (although it has nothing to do with fear and more to do with too much work).
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

It depends on your situation. When I reapplied for a restoration of temple blessings in 2000 (which I aborted, much to the SP's disappointment, it took a long time to get approval, and I in fact aborted before it came, and removed my name from the Church records) I had bishop and stake president interviews (which were almost interrogations about "past activities"), and I was told, by the SP, that my "case" was in the hands of a senior member of the Twelve. I believe it was Elder Nelson, If I recall correctly. No doubt they were "scrutinising" everything I had written to that time. They could not have done this without the help of the SCMC, I believe.

If you're out, and out for good, it's unlikely to affect you. But if someone wanted to reapply for baptism, they too would be scrutinised. Likewise active members of the Church. For example, if a candidate's name for bishop was submitted by the SP, it could conceivably be scrutinised. Your situation, if I understand it correctly, would not be a threat (I don't know if you're exed or name-removed).
They are more "interested" in internal dissenters, and as in the case of Lavina Fielding Anderson - keeping them out until they "repent".

I'm not out I'm in. I am a member in good standing.

It's obviously play time for you, John. You've said right here on this board, and it's also on PostMo, that you're an ex-Mormon. No wonder the SCMC would not be interested in you.

CALM offers former Mormons empathy, support : Leaving a church can sever other relationships.

(Unless of course you're some kind of "double-agent" )

Umm, I didn't make myself clear, I guess.
I should say exactly you said, which is so perfect sleep like a cat in a pool of warm sunshine., since I have 3 cats and a pool to go.
But seriously, if bunch of religious fanatics keep my files of an average Joe, what are they gonna do?
Writing in bold font as big as the size of his dick ain't going to scare me.
Hell, bring it on.
This is what I fail to understand about, what is there to be scared or intimidated about?
Edit to add;
Unless you are DCP or Scratch?
Well, to his credit Scratch came back, after figuring out the baloney behind
suing threats....

When I said I was in good standing, I was joking that they haven't taken any action against me. I haven't been in a Mormon Church in about 4 years.

I think my case illustrates that the Church is not interested in going after low-medium profile apostates. If you and write a book that gets a lot of press coverage, they might do something. But I think they have learned their lesson with Sutherton, and Palmer that the excommunications in the press don't do the Church any service.

On the other hand, if I had marital problems (which I don't), they might go for it à la Sutherton.

But people who participate on these boards really have nothing to fear. I have wondered, however, if they have a file on me. But it is not something I worry about. I think the church is more interested in tracking me for my money. BYU always tracks me down. I recently resubscribed to the Ensign and now I get mailers from Deseret Book, so clearly the Church shares mailing lists. But we have never heard anything from the ward out here.
