Yep, Bill violated Godwin's law all right. What was it? Two pages into the argument before he resorted to a comparison with Jews and Nazi Germany..that's Godwin's Law. And the truth is, it doesn't matter if it worked for his argument or not. The rest of us at MADB who are required to follow the rules know that you NEVER use a comparison to Jews and Nazi's or anything even close, no matter how well it fits your argument, because if the Mods choose to, they can site it and discipline you.
But he's a pundit and a scholar (and like most other posters on the board, unable to admit when he's crossed a line) so he's treated with a respectful post from Hermes rather than a blunt reminder of the rules and a warning to not do it again, which a regular TBM would have gotten in this instance. And of course, if it had been done by a critic, well... they'd be suspended or banned, no question. That's just how MADB is.
Every man is a moon and has a [dark] side which he turns toward nobody; you have to slip around behind if you want to see it. ---Mark Twain
Thanks Brackite. It looks like he sure is punishing the board. MAD is learning a valuable lesson. Never tell a senior apologist they've crossed a line. This is infuriating to them.
Lou Midgley 08/20/2020: "...meat wad," and "cockroach" are pithy descriptions of human beings used by gemli? They were not fashioned by Professor Peterson.
LM 11/23/2018: one can explain away the soul of human beings...as...a Meat Unit, to use Professor Peterson's clever derogatory description of gemli's ideology.
I have it from a close source on North Temple in SLC that "The Third Watson Letter" is forthcoming shortly to address why the church takes no official position on the location and/or absence thereof Mr. Hamblin.
The letter will be seen only by Peterson and then immediately lost or misplaced. Should adequately address this whole issue and be included in a FARMS publication that will be, well, ignored!
"It's not so much that FARMS scholarship in the area Book of Mormon historicity is "rejected' by the secular academic community as it is they are "ignored". [Daniel Peterson, May, 2004]
