"In a popular anti-Mormon gambit, Scottie has presented us with a textbook example of the fallacy of the false dilemma: either we are to accept it as all true, or else we must reject it as all false."
Isn't that what GBH and other GAs have said? Are they anti-Mormons too?
Actually, they probably are, by apologist standards.

At which time, Scottie will triumphantly produce evidence from a different source, confirming the one actual episode therein, and thus compel acceptance of the false claims attached thereto.
Like most anti-Mormon atrocity stories, this one contains a mixture of truth and falsehood. The little truth there is in it is found in the "Bishop Snow" story; all the rest of the stuff that hangs on the bishop's coat-tails -- such as the claim that this was a "custom" and that such things were done on "the orders from Joseph Smith," is a brazen falsehood.
But that, unsurprisingly, is what Scottie wants his readers to believe.

PahoranParanoia? The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
You are not some wide-eyed ingenue, who wandered in here with just one little innocent question because you'd heard something negative about Mormons and you wanted to hear what we had to say. You are a poster with considerable history and an established anti-Mormon track record. It stretches my credulity to breaking point that you'd never heard of the Bishop Snow story.
Regards,
Pahoran
How did I get sucked into this????

While I'm here, can I throw my 2 cents in for banning all uses of "anywho"?
Sethbag, I'm looking squarely in your direction!!! :)

(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

My distaste for the term "Anti Mormon chestnut" is the number 1 reason I hardly ever visit MAD. I joined there last April, and I swear it seemed like every single thread had at least one poster say that. GAAAAAH

I know it's not fair, but whenever I see someone use it I immediately assume he/she is a simpleton.
No prob. I don't assume that most LDS critics and all political liberals are simpletons and completely uneducated to boot no matter what their degree or professional experience is; I know it from long experience.

Oh, and now you're just pretending to be innocent, as if you don't have your own axe to grind.

I started that thank you very much. Of course anyone who's read The Hobbit could appreciate it.
