If we had no hope, would we want to know everything is hopeless? The Church holds many truths beyond the foundational story, such as, it is better to care for one another than to not care.

Without the foundational 'story' the Church is no different to any other brotherhood or sisterhood or collection of the human family. People in prison care for one another.
However, the Church charges 10% for them...
What other 'truths' are unique to the Church?

Basically I believe the Church is true because I honestly trust that God has gave me reason to believe it is true in the form of Him manifesting the truth of it to me. I simply can't deny the experiences I've had that go far beyond anything anyone has been able to critique as far as I've seen.

What do you presume is in that site that will show me the Church is not true? I would really like to know.

Thanks. I agree. We must continually search, ponder and pray throughout our lives, never assuming we know it all, or even close to all.

If your testimony is as strong as you say it is, then go and explore it for yourself.

DarkHelmet wrote:In what ways can the truthfulness of the church be tested?[\quote]
Good question. My answer would be numerous ways. For instance, if Joseph Smith' story about GOd and Jesus visiting were not true, then that would take me a long ways to believing the rest of his claims are not true. The problem is, of course, the criticisms concerning his claimed visit aren't all that telling. "Oh he told different versions of it?" Yiptey. "Oh, there's no evidence of large groups of people in the americas who identified as jewish christians?" Whose to tell me we should expect to see as much?
Assuming the church's truth claims are falsifiable, how would we test it?
I wish criticisms learned to address this type of question more than with a "well if the CHurch is true then it couldn't have made mistakes". I say "I wish" because I guess in a way I wouldn't mind seeing the Church being untrue--it'd make things a lot easier and simpler for me in life.

When did I say its all that strong at all? I guess it was inferred? I've been through tons of sites and can't really see why people direct me to them. I don't want to waste my time again. If he has something in mind, in particular, or if you do, then by all means point it out to me.

There's lots of different topics on it, pick one that interests you and have a trawl through.
