I agree with the list that Liz posted of suggested nominees with the possible exception of Rollo, but only because I don't see him actively posting. Other than that, I'd fully support him as a moderator.
I also agree with Ceeboo, madeleine, Mudcat and LDST if he'd just get on the stick and get those 700 posts in! :-)
I see Zee as one of my top 5 contenders, though I'd rather not list my top 5.
I sent Shades a message last night offering to help out with moderating again. I think I am aware of just about everything that happens on this board. I would want to see myself subjected to a public poll as Shades suggested doing in the case of multiple volunteers.
Oh and for the record, I think I have one visible "enemy" (or pest) on the board. :-)
I thought of something that probably doesn't belong here in a topical sense, but I would suggest that once the current moderating teams gets some additional support, that mod's be primarily assigned to cover particular forums with the bulk of coverage, of course, on the Terrestrial Forum.
That's not to say that I think informally assigning mods to specific forums should prevent them from moderating other areas. I think that trying this would go toward making the well placed effort in light of the fact that most of our posters work full time jobs and spreading mods around the board with a focus on a particular forum would help prevent them from being "spread too thin".
Thinking in terms of "divide and conquer".
Hope that makes some sense!

I'm ok with whoever may agree to do it. It's not an easy or fun job. If any mod goes nuts with power and starts editing posts willy-nilly in a MAD fashion, I trust that Shades would remove the mod.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.
I have another administrative suggestion that might coax potential volunteers to the forefront.
If there were enough volunteers, schedule them three months on and three months off, or some form of that method.
Modding can be particularly draining especially when there is no end in sight. As I mentioned earlier, our current mods all work full time. I know that based on experience, that it's difficult to come home from a long day at work to open the board for your own purpose only to be faced with yet another situation that needs tending to.
How about give our moderating team a bit of a break now and then by putting them on/off in cycles or depending on availability?
Just a suggestion...

Zeez is a good choice, as well as consig. I really think we ought to have equal numbers of liberal LDS and moderate no-Mo's.
I couldn't; there are times when the PTSD rears its ugly head, like last week, and I could get a bit ugly. I won't try to explain the in real life situation. In addition, the more radical LDS faction has a grudge against me, I don't want the board community to suffer because of that.
Yeah, Jersey Girl, that would work in terms of equity and stress.

I'd like to nominate either Ms. Jack or Mr. DarthJ. Either would do an outstanding job for as long as they would have it.

Just relying on sound management principles which leads me to on/off cycles as a strategy, MCB. We all come to this board for whatever individual purposes. There is nothing quite so frustrating as being a mod with no end in sight, conducting business in your daily life, then opening the board and thinking to yourself..."Oh no, not this again!" It's very off putting.
On a more personal note...I have worked in close support of someone suffering from PTSD. I am so sorry that your life is interrupted by this.
Just so very sorry...

It is a hell of a lot better than it was. When a mental health professional has to check around to determine whether it is PTSD or paranoid schiz, you know that the situation is bad.
I suppose I could do it for brief periods of time. Maybe if we had separate moderator accounts, the board wouldn't suffer because of those prejudices. In which case, Madeline would do well. She wears her Catholicism too boldly for some.

Jersey Girl - she has experience, likely learned from past mistakes and follows the board closely

Good choices, but I'd also like to see Dan Peterson and Kish on the list.
You should keep in mind anyone that is a mod has a difficult time participating in debate type discussions. It's best to choose people who are less interested in debate than Kish and Peterson.
