Why? What makes you think that?
BC wrote: I agree. It all depends on what the SP knows and what John is willing to tell. Based on what others have said about him, I'm fairly certain he would not have got away without disciplinary action of some sort unless he communicated sincerely a desire to believe and willingness to work towards it without infecting others with apsotate beliefs.
What have others said about him?
His whole premise in his articles is that he is trying to create a way for those who are uncomfortable with some of the doctrine to get past it, and still believe. What is contradictory from a Church perspective about this?
John Dehlin has come here, himself, and updated us on his progress with New Order Mormonism.
I, for one, was very interested in the information that Jason posted, and I don't think it is going against the grain of anything here. It's a little different than if Jason posted random information about John's family. That's not what is happening here. Jason is basically continuing a conversation that Dehlin, himself, started here.
If Dehlin objects in any way, I will be happy to remove the thread, but I honestly don't see that happening. He has a very good relationship with the board.
I had a feeling that Ceeboo did not know that because of the way he wrote his sentence. But then again, maybe he did know it and was just trying to be cutesy with his words.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith
why me wrote:Yes quite amazing that the SP was a human being who understood John. I remember the thread here after john made his announcement and the posts from this board. But, lo and behold, all went well. I am sure that many here wished for a different outcome: excommunication.
Emphasis mine.
Actually, I think most on this board hoped for some kind of accommodation. I know that I did. This is good news for all involved.
I got a different impression. Perhaps it went more like this: I hope that best for john in this matter but if he is exed, I will certainly make a lot of hay for the hay bash for at least a year, if not more.

Which board members did you get that impression from, Why Me?

Will doesn't post here anymore.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
