Well, I can certainly remember being set quite a good example by two prominent Mormon intellectuals:
DCP: has poked conspicuous fun at opponents' grammar, intelligence and mental ability. (I can't recall much by way of remarks about looks).
Schryver: has poked fun at opponents' grammar, intelligence and mental ability, PLUS looks in the case of female opponents.
In answer to Shades' question, surely one of the perennial amusements of this board is ridiculing the misuse of 'grammar, intelligence and mental ability' to misrepresent or suppress inconvenient facts that make the LDS apologetic enterprise difficult to sustain?
I don't think there is much objection to engaging those who enter into the fray willingly, but this thread is similar to bombing civilian villages for kicks.

Not really. These people are extremely unlikely to come to know what is being said about them here, and hence will not suffer any kind of discomfort. This is more like anthropology with attitude.
Having said that, I prefer to keep my polemical energies for targets that can shoot back - simply because it makes the game much more interesting, and you get more than one shot ...
Zadok: I did not have a faith crisis. I discovered that the Church was having a truth crisis. Maksutov: That's the problem with this supernatural stuff, it doesn't really solve anything. It's a placeholder for ignorance.
Several folks have commented on other boards (perhaps here as well) that this image is just plain creepy. Can't they find a photographer who can help this man?
One could have a page of the most articulate profiles from the most attractive members and this image of God's Prophet on Earth on the website would still ruin any goodwill that the "I'm a Mormon" profiles could possibly generate.
David Hume: "---Mistakes in philosophy are merely ridiculous, those in religion are dangerous."
DrW: "Mistakes in science are learning opportunities and are eventually corrected."
To be fair it seems like the vast majority of people who post on that site are well-spoken & thoughtful. I think that offsets any nutters.

I agree. Quite a few good profiles.
Whatever appears to be against the Book of Mormon is going to be overturned at some time in the future. So we can be pretty open minded.-charity 3/7/07
MASH quotes I peeked in the back [of the Bible] Frank, the Devil did it. I avoid church religiously. This isn't one of my sermons, I expect you to listen.
On a serious note, after seeing so many "I am currently/leaving-for serving a mission in ______" profiles I wonder if this is a new requirement for all the new mo'bots entering the MTC(pronounced Empty Sea)?
50,000 unwitting fools each and every year. Talk about padding the numbers, that was an easy decision by the PR department.
I am a husband and a proud step-father of a beautiful and gregarious 10 year old girl. I love her and her mother with all my heart. i dislike the connotation behind the word "step" because I am her father as well.
And i am happy to have a great relationship with her other parents that we share full custody with.
Pass the hat and glowing magic rocks... dunno what he is saying here.
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"
