First - what is the difference between asexual reproduction and immaculate conception? I would like to suggest that the difference is not huge. Why would God go through all the trouble of planting a seed in a host human, just to get himself down on the earth? Why not just go down to the earth Herself?
Second - Yes, your proposition of Mary and Joseph being normal folks is indeed worth considering. I would guess it is considered very often.

Oh for shame, how the mortals put the blame on us gods, for they say evils come from us, but it is they, rather, who by their own recklessness win sorrow beyond what is given... Zeus (1178 BC)

Immaculate conception refers to the notion that Mary was born "unstained", free from Original Sin. Mary was the product of human parents.
Immaculate conception does not refer to the birth of Jesus.

...here's for hoping I can be taken seriously after this...
I'm somewhat of a loose canon. That is, a person who is a loose cannon on all things religious. Maybe I need to slow down for a bit... take a break...

I only listen to loose canons; they have the wildest imaginations.
