I used to wonder if what you confessed to doing before the mission contributed to whether whoever assigns missionaries to missions would send you out of the U.S. or not. I have heard that if you're well connected you can pick your mission. Not that such things should be surprising. It was just more disturbing because I found out about it while I was on my mission. No wonder Mormons develop congnitive dissonance. Suppression is a survival strategy of sorts.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.
