"srsly" indicates a lack of seriousness, or a sign that one is trying to ape popular culture for some conversational purpose.

I srsly don't know if you know what you're talking about but then again, SERIOUSLY, maybe you do!

What is Bill Hamblin's scholarly expertise supposed to be, exactly? Is he a historian of the ancient Middle East? You will hear other apologists trumpeting the others' accomplishments--e.g., the listing off of Gee's conference presentations and so on--but where is the equivalent boosterism for Hamblin? I think the closest that I have ever seen to what I'm describing would be that embarrassing video where Bill "The Hutt" Hamblin visited the bookstore at Oxford for the sole purpose of seeing whether or not his own book was there on the shelves.

Im reposting what I said because I never visit telestial and I highly doubt anything in my post is telestial caliber:

What's wrong with those pieces Bob? If you think you can refute anything I said, then I'm all ears. You do realize that those were written well over seven years ago, and Bill claimed that I "regularly" talk about this stuff. In fact, those posts were written during the 12-15 month period in my life when I was actually interested in the Islamic discussion.

What you don't understand is that Bill Hamblin is still upset with me because of an incident that took place on Kerry Shirts' blog years ago. Kerry was discussing a radio interview with Hamblin, I downloaded the interview and challenged one of Bill's claims. Bill said that those who were ruled under Islam were generally those who lived in a free society. His exact words were, "they could do whatever they wanted."

Bill immediately pulled the first line of apologetic defense and insisted I was misrepresenting him, suggesting I was lying about what he said. He said he never made that remark in his interview. So I uploaded the audio clip so he and Kerry could listen to it and lo and behold, Bill said, word for word, "they could do whatever they wanted." At that point Dan Peterson rushed to the scene and dragged Bill away and he claims to have been "ignoring" me ever since. Every time I bring this up, it drives him nuts because he knows he falsely accused me of misrepresentation and his pride prevents him from owning up to it, and thanks to people like you and DCP, he gets swooped away in the blissful delusion that he has justifiably refused to be held accountable for his bad scholarship.

And the funniest thing about that exchange is he laughed at my assertion that the Crusades were primarily an act of defense, saying he knew of no scholar who would agree with this. So I then pointed out that this was precisely the conclusion of historian Thomas F. Madden, and then I pointed out that Madden's book on the subject was required reading for the class Hamblin was teaching at BYU. Of course, he never responded to that either. This guy is a joke. It is as if he says things because he thinks he can just get away with it and expect people to rely on his "authority" as an academian. Sorry, but I'm not intimidated by those types, and it drives them nuts. This is why he hangs out at MAD so frequently. He needs to feel like he is so far above everyone else intellectually, and that is quite an easy task over there.

OH MAN, this is absolutely and utterly BEYOND CLASSIC! That comment alone has made this entire board worth it. :-)

DCP's best friends list can be a very baffling thing.

Of course I assume Dan's real best friends list is held pretty close to the chest, being a way different thing than his Work association's friends list.

Nice story Kevin, thanks for laugh. But of course you're just a bitter apostate, who betrayed this "friends" list and so obviously must be lying.

Geeze, and you could have been one of Dan's friends, oh the cost.

Folks, this is a man who walks around BYU's Jerusalem center and filmed the asses of students. Is anything he does really surprising?

Liz, go to the member search feature here and read his posts in reverse chron order.

Such an honorable fellow. A Mormon bishop, or so he lies, posting anonymously.

Bob, sometimes I really wish I wasn't a Bishop. It's filled with long days, sometimes little sleep because of worrying and much time on my knees.

Bob, if what you say is true then you will have no problem posting hundreds of my comments that represent your position. I look forward to your next post.

The real irony is that in your few posts on this thread, you have shown everyone who the real anti-Mormon is. It's just too bad you can't see this for yourself.

Bob, I would humbly and sincerely ask that you take some time to think about what you are doing, and the harm you have caused and are continuing to cause.

God bless and good luck to you.
