And stout or porter is great in pancake batter.

I made Guinness stew - delicious.

Do you brown the stew meat in the beer or add the Guinness later?

Let me guess, you're drinking blended.

I always brown the meat first, whether a chili or a stew. But I also brown the meat in whatever spice I am using. Never thought to brown the meat in the beer...

No! Glennfiddich, 12 year. I tried it over ice and couldn't get into it.

My goodness. Don't cook with it. Give to someone who will give a good home. You must know someone.

I've done it both ways, depending on whether I spice and flour the meat before I brown it.

edit: The reason I asked is that I'm not sure which way is proper.

Please send it this way. To cook with single malt is some sort of sin (like making a wine reduction with a Montrachet).

by the way, all the alcohol evaporates out when you cook with it. You can, of course, add a little more once it's cooled.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

Well, JSJr was known to drink beer, but vanilla extract? I don't think there's a single mention of his doing so in any history about him or in HoC?

The more I have learned about JSJr, it seems the LDS Church teaches the opposite of what JSJr did.

I like both Guinness (especially Extra Stout on tap) and Glenfiddich. Never thought of cooking with either, but maybe pancakes with the Extra Stout.

I only have the internet for reference, but I read that one has to grow an appreciation for scotch - start with blended, then single malts mixed with water, then straight. I started straight - maybe that was my problem.
