This especially goes for topics with no formal approach and/or controversial topics.

Dunkings? Trial by fire? Sword duels?

The swords are an interesting suggestion. If engaging in religious discussion posed the same risk as handling sharp objects, Mopologetics would cease to exist within a week.

When people make claims and they back it up with references I can check those and it seems to me a good way to determine an opinion on the matter. Even though I have come to an opinion it may not be right and it could change as I see more evidence.

Is a discussion board a good way of determining truth?
What is the best way?

On the other hand a discussion board could be a awful way of determining truth. To me some poster post some things that are totally incorrect but they may present their post in such a way that is sounds logical.

Knowing what is true is very difficult. Knowing what is false is much easier. I find that participation here on this board has given me a much better understanding of the viewpoints of others. Especially the people who do not share my own point of view.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.
