I think this is the most accurate description of what Dehlin does that I have seen from you. I agree with it other than the word encourage bolded above. Replace it with supports and you have it accuartaly.

And what is wrong with supporting a member as he finds his own spiritual path through life? It is an insecure person who thinks that his way is the only way.
