Untethered-BoM TBMs: Why not the Qur'an too?

Neutral critics have a difficult time with the witnesses to the Book of Mormon. And the text from the Ensign shows this.

I have a basic question for those that believe that they can learn something from the Book of Mormon, regardless of whether they believe in the historicity of the BoM-described peoples and events:

Why do you cling to the notion that you can learn something sacred from the fictional Book of Mormon, but not read and learn and regard as sacred the Qur'an?

Is the Book of Mormon just a sacred hangover from when you were lied to, that the Book of Mormon peoples really lived, events really happened? Is it just a moral 'security blanket' you have a hard time letting go of and deciding for yourself what is and is not moral?

Scriptures (any scriptures) are the grown up version of a comfort blanket...

Indeed. By cloaking a text as 'scripture' or 'sacred', one is saying, "do not challenge that text, do not analyze it critically. It is, by my having cloaked it with the shield of 'scripture'/'sacred', something that others should not touch, if they do, they disrespect me as a person. It is my 'safe place.' Don't go there."

And some inquiring minds will stop at the edge of the 'scripture'/'sacred' text, but would not have a problem challenging a different person's professed assumptions.

These people ask that there safe space be off limits, but some will themselves be dismissive and derisive of others that put great stock in the empirical method and logical deductions. There is the anti-dialogue. Those that dismissive out of hand others' epistemology, but then are offended that someone would be dismissive of theirs and the 'scripture'/'sacred' text.

i read the Koran and also the Tao for a religion class at BYU and definitely felt it beneficial at that time (still do). while i never particularly got much out of the Book of Mormon (before or after leaving the church) there are still a few verses that have some resonance for me. and yes, part of that is just the comfort of the familiar.
