The article in question is not "editorial comment"...it is a news story and presented as such. Likely it is there as a deliberate way of trying to demonstrate how fair and objective the DN is in the face of charges that Mormons are lock step in supporting Romney. It is there for purpose.
It's a personal essay in the "My View" series of the opinion pages. It's not a news story in any sense.
