I find many people with this opinion. The ancients were stupid and we are so much smarter. I mean they just came out of caves and such they must be barely able to know they were sentient. Whereas you being much more highly advanced can easily figure out their cultures and languages. I mean our language and culture is so much more advanced than these knuckle dragging low IQ idiots.

So with this basic truth firmly in place let us put that truth to a minor test shall we?

I challenge you to learn the ancient language of Sumerian. It is one of the earliest forms of writing and spoken language. Here is a link to get you started.

With your superior IQ and advanced culture I am sure this is mere child's play. So let us give you a week. Then I will give you some pictures of cuneiform tablets to decipher. At that point I will be happy to acknowledge your superior IQ to all on these boards. Or we could conclude you are nothing but a bag of hot air with worthless comments. One or the other.

And will an ancient Sumarian be learning modern English this same week?
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.

Since it is a dead language I think not. But using the logic of others a Sumerian would require a much longer period of time to learn English. English being so complex as a language.

Philo Sofee wrote:Monson says never even entertain doubts, throw them out and cling to faith no matter what. The scripture, though, says "prove all things, hold fast to that which is good." Aren't ya glad I hurried and typed this so you don't have to turn blue from holding yer breath?

Well put, Philo Sofee. Faith is a hope for that for which there is no evidence. If having a strong, evidenceless hope is Franktalk's goal, then I think Franktalk will find opiates and hallucinogens of quite assistance to the goal of strengthening the self-delusion.

Actually I believe all current languages are dumbed down. I think that the ancients were much smarter than the average person today. I think that we fool our self with all of our gadgets into believing that we are superior.

All pale in comparison to the Adamic language, of course.

But let's be real for a sec. We all fantasize in French.

What does it mean to be a "dumbed down" language? Languages have evolved for thousands of years and will continue to do so. This idea that there was somehow a "perfect" language (whatever the hell that means) is nonsense. Of course, nonsense was right up Joseph Smith's alley.

They weren't smart enough to know that washing their hands (germs and hygiene) would keep millions of people from premature deaths.

If you were smart you would know that knowing facts is different than the measurable ability to learn. Thank you for demonstrating my point.
