I think Nightlion means that for every edifice built, contracts had to be awarded. There's no guarantee that the contracts were awarded to the lowest bidder; again I think that Nightlion means that overpriced contracts were given out to Hinckley's friends who were contractors or owned construction companies.

The point of The Apocalrock is not a mere face in the rock but the chronicle of a story and many many stories from scripture. This requires complex composition for each. This in stone is proof of God and his incomprehensible handiwork of geo-cosmic art. The world has defied scripture so this revelation will hardly change the world. Bot one here and another there may find the courage to seek God acceptably by forsaking the world.

Thanks for the great write-up, Shades. Mike Reed and I visited Nightlion a few years back, shortly before he first opened his visitor center. Like you, we found him a surprisingly humble and soft-spoken conversation partner—quite different from what we expected given his persona here on the boards. I was also really impressed by his creativity. He draws, he sings, he plays guitar—he even makes board games, if I recall correctly. I regret that our friendship soured after he heard that I'm an atheist.

Concerning Lorenzo Snow, I have to admit that if I were gonna pick a guy to blame for the Church's apostasy, he wouldn't be top of the list. Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, even Wilford Woodruff I can understand, but Lorenzo Snow is an odd choice. After all, Brigham did a stint encouraging immigration from Britain too. As for the prejudice against Brits, I suppose we Anglo-Saxons have been persecuting other ethnicities long enough that turnabout is fair play!

I remember losing faith but cannot remember why exactly.I still treasure you and Mike visiting me. As far as why Lorenzo Snow I got lots of reasons for it.

1. He fulfills 2Thessalonians 2. After the saints labored forty years on the Salt Lake Temple it was Lorenzo who moved in. Fantastic! Sitting in the temple of God showing himself as if he were God, and thank you Mormons for "my" temple.

2. He set money for the standard of righteousness.

3. He mingled the philosophy of men with the gospel setting up the Polysophical Society throughout the West subjecting the Church to the rule of academia which is oneness with the world which is the natural enemy of God.

4. He testified to having been truly visited of the promise of the Father even the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost but never once preached the real gospel as an apostle. This is extremely suspect of him turning against Christ. This qualifies him for son of perdition status also fulfilling 2 Thessalonians yet again.

5.He betrayed Joseph Smith and caused his death.This is my conjecture based upon his career of changing the Church away from the causes of Zion. Joseph was upholding a standard for highest blessings and Lorenzo was in league with the flood of tares from England who lusted for polygamy a tenet of witchcraft. Lorenzo was wines and dined by the elite and royal courts of England and I believe he sold out the Church and set about its restructure after his ego. Brigham was either his dupe or confederate. Note it was Brigham who fort betrayed the gospel standard by sending out Jedidiah Grant's Mormon Thunder to brow beat the saints to sustaining authorities to be counted worthy setting leaders before submitting to Christ. The gospel was never taught in the Mormon Church ever after....try and find it anywhere spoken in all GCs.

7. Lorenzo took the lead in corrupting LDS theology after killing Joseph preventing any correction. As man is God once was. As God is man may become. Perfection of Satanism seeking to supplant God.

8 This evil bastard refused to care for my great grandfather's pregnant wife in the United Order Lorenzo presided over in Brigham City while my GGF was tending the cattle on Antelope Island all winter. My GGF decked LS and pilfered his pockets when LS refused to immediately remedy the situation, proving LS lusted to provoke others, a major joy and sport of wickedness. 9. Joseph F. Smith outed Lorenzo Snow, possibly without realizing it, with the last bonefied LDS revelation detailing that the then dead LS was NOWHERE to be found in the Spirit World with the prophets. Son of Perdition for sure.

10. LS faked raising a witch from the dead, in my opinion along with him lying about seeing Jesus in the temple to his grand daughter.

11. Oh yeah , he also preached up the arrogance that the priesthood ought to vaunt up as a something great in and of itself. As he was also chief at getting up a parade to court the vanity of Brigham Young when visiting the United Order in Box Elder County. Which order he failed to teach the least principles of Zion and how to acquire the gifts and powers thereof.

12. Not only did Lorenzo Snow facilite the flood of tares into the Church from England he led them from apostacy to apostasy and abomination to abomination.

As for seeing things in rocks and mountains I have teased NL far too much. Right now I am in an internet café about 1000 feet from this rock called face rock in Bandon, Oregon.
