When I read that it made me wonder if Kate Kelly might be on to something:

"Sadly, the Mormon faith has become a place that incentivizes the survival of the least fit. Since strict obedience is demanded and harshly enforced, only the least talented, least articulate, least nuanced thinkers, least likely to take a stand against abuse, and the least courageous people thrive in the Church today. That's what the Mormon church is now and has been for decades, generations. Ms. Kelly took her turn tilting at the windmill but the people who pay the tithes and do the "management" don't support her or her ideas, any more than they did the creators of Dialogue and Sunstone. Real revolutions come out of the middle classes; a serious reform movement within Mormonism would have to be the same.

This lady is fascinating. I read this from her blog describing an experience at an adult session of stake conference:
... the individual’s comment was tending towards suggesting that we should make it safe to doubt in the Church.

The response was instructive. It is fine to have questions, the visiting authority (Elder Perkins) said, but it is not acceptable to doubt. Doubt, he contended, ends hope of moving forward, while questions, even if unresolved for an extended period of time, permit the individual with questions to move forward in faith.


This is where the Church must go. Wasn't this the message in Uchdorf's "doubt your doubts" talk? There's only 2 options when faced with questions: (1) resolve them in a faithful manner, i.e. "meat commerce", or (2) leave them unresolved. Resolution in a reasonable and rational manner will lead to doubt which is unacceptable.

She should just take this carnal intercourse issue back to the unresolved shelf if she doesn't want people to question her sanity.

Excellent point Yahoo Bot. I suspect this interesting tidbit came solely from your clientèle, but in the bawdy trade, passing a platter of turkey means engaging in sexual activities far beyond simple vaginal intercourse. It includes the full spectrum. Similar phrases for such an extensive treatment includes, "around the world" and "fly me to the moon baby".

Being a straight laced BIC type, Runtu would've course be a bit naïve on this point. Thank you for this clarification.
