The two poles of a religiously based progressive morality are not hard to put together — borderless globalism and free “sexual expression.” They are part of the same ethic that seeks to emancipate the individual from the needs and norms of all real, concrete national and religious communities. It’s a stretch, therefore, to imply that such a political perspective can be genuinely grounded in LDS belief.

Every time I read this, I can't help but detect an implicit white nationalism. Now, I don't think Prof. Hancock is consciously a white nationalist. But his vision tends so clearly in that direction that one wonders how many white nationalists take heart when they read these words.

I tend to think what he's talking about is more 'ethno-religion' rather than a race based argument. I'd propose the natural state of mankind is hierarchical and tribal. Basically what we seem to be trending back to politically with resources being controlled and funneled to a top 1% and managed by another 5-10%. The rest of us are just a resource to be utilized by these people because *reasons*.

The Christian paradigm, specifically one man and one woman being married to one another and sexually committed to one another throughout their lives, created a society that produced whole classes of specialized workers, academics, soldiers, artisans, etc... Which in of itself created superior nation-states that was able to dominate the globe.

The perceived threats of liberalism, homosexuality, feminism, et al are deeply troubling to the consevative elements who, even if they don't really understand why they feel the way they do, sense their own power base slipping away. This is why the 1%'ers are able to seize power because they can dupe the consevative elements into voting for them, even if it's ultimately against the former's best interests.

The Leftists need to do a better job at assuaging the sense of vulnerability that the family man and family woman feel. Where Leftists fail is they take aim at them instead of illustrating to them why Consevative leadership doesn't advocate for them.

10. Interpreter's Expenditures Continue to Swell

The ever-vigilant poster Tom reported in late November that the online blog/"venture" known as Mormon Interpreter (or "MI" for short, in an apparent dig at the *other* MI--the Maxwell Institute) eclipsed its previous maximum expenditures by a whopping $17,000. Perhaps even more interestingly, the Interpreter Foundation has thrown well over $100,000 into Royal "Ghost Committee" Skousen's work on the Book of Mormon. And vagueness continues to hamper the financial disclosures. While the Chairman continues to claim that no one is actually compensated for their work with Interpreter, the information on the expenditures remains disturbingly unclear.

I applaud another remarkably insightful and witty contribution to the field from the inestimable Dr. Scratch.

Speaking of money, I note that Dr. Peterson has opened a fundraising campaign for Interpreter Foundation on Facebook, "Daniel's #GivingTuesday Fundraiser for Interpreter Foundation," seeking to raise $15,000. Here are his solicitation messages:

I believe in the Interpreter Foundation and what it can do. Even though we run a lean operation and even though our leadership receives no compensation, our expenses are now running at roughly $10,000 a month. I dislike begging for money, but what we do unavoidably incurs expenses. And, frankly, we would like to do more than we're currently doing -- which would cost even MORE money. Furthermore, just yesterday, I learned of an important research project into the origins of the Book of Abraham -- a project for which help has been requested from the Interpreter Foundation but for which, right now, we simply don't have the funds.
