This is just sad all the way around. It's a persistent problem throughout society and Mormons aren't immune. Thanks sleepyvark48 for shining a light on this.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

That’s a PDF of cases compiled by Deb Diener in or around 2017. We’ve reviewed every case in it and added nearly every one to our database. A very small number didn’t make it, mostly because they only discussed victims by name but didn’t provide any direct information about the alleged abusers.Moksha wrote: ↑Wed Dec 28, 2022 6:56 amSo, what is this? https://archive.org/details/INSTANCESOF ... 7/mode/2up

You’re welcome. We appreciate any help. On each entry there’s a form to add information anonymously.
It certainly is a persistent problem. And before the mid-1980s, as far as clergy are concerned, at least in the United States it was something that hardly ever made the news. Laws and culture were different. Did abuse occur with the same frequency? I’d imagine so. It just wasn’t talked about, let alone prosecuted.

Knock on wood, no. We’re trying to follow a very similar model to bishop-accountability.org which has existed for about 20 years. Just trying to accurately catalog public reports. If anything, I would hope that defenders of a faith claiming to have Christ at its helm would be deeply appreciative of our sincere efforts. Maybe someday they’ll start sending us information to add!
