Hi sock puppet. I can’t think of any of the modern prophets since the restoration that have referred to the scriptures and/or the prophet’s words recorded in them to be “of no value”. Just the opposite. Albeit with the caveat that we refer to and use the scriptures as far as they are translated correctly. So it’s kind of a mixed bag.sock puppet wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 9:53 pmHey, MG 2.0--so have you discarded all your "scriptures"--just past prophetic statements? Of no value, according to the Brethren, April 2023.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 6:09 pm
The second sentence clarifies the meaning behind the first. As a very obvious example, we wouldn’t use the teachings of the past in regards to the plurality of wives and then apply those teachings to then excuse the practice of polygamy today rather than listening to and obeying the current prophet.
Polygamy practiced in the past=OK
Polygamy practiced in the present=not OK.
It doesn’t seem to be rocket science.

What are some doctrines you don’t like that you expect to change that will not essentially discard recorded scripture?
Didn't I prove to you the Mopes scholars are quoting from old RLDS documents and books?Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 11:15 pmhttps://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comme ... ame=iossmf

I don’t believe I’m contradicting myself. Although you do have to read for understanding rather than moving right up nose length on the Monet trying to figure out what the whole picture is about.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 11:15 pmhttps://www.reddit.com/r/exmormon/comme ... ame=iossmf

Honestly, I think that black and white thinking along with stubbornness really doesn’t take a person very far.
Talking with you is like, well, not really talking with you.

I was responding to MG 2.0 who, by the way, is a homer for DCP and his M2C SITHsayers. How is it the Church contradicts itself when private members set up 501(c)(3)s called:
F.A.R.M.S. later morphing into Book of Mormon Central, Interpreter Foundation and the same-minded FAIRLDS - then start reselling ideas from 100-year old RLDS books with expired copyrights?
They have to come up with something new to appear to be relevant. Why not lift ideas from old RLDS documents now in the Public Domain?

Nice try. I admittedly had to look up both. Interesting. Neither one applies to me. At least when I’m fully aware and cognizant. Which is when I’m awake.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 12:11 am
