I am as baffled as Shades by the Witnesses phenomenon. I took my active LDS father-in-law to see it and he fell asleep. I, on the other hand, had a blast watching it.

DCP just posted a scathing review of his own:

I wouldn't recommend the place to anybody. Even if you're looking for criticisms of the Church, there are probably at least a couple dozen "better" options.

This line from the episode description is classic:
the story of the three witnesses who saw the gold plates the Book of Mormonism was based on (in a vision), and the story of how they never publicly admitted they were lying and therefore must have been telling the truth.
Lol!!! Seriously, why does DCP insist that this is convincing? How many liars does he know who later admitted they were fibbing? Has *he* ever admitted to lying about getting paid for apologetics? Or about the 2nd Watson Letter?

Over the years, when Dan and others have suggested this is a terrible place to discuss Mormonism, I have acknowledged that this place is not perfect and asked for suggestions on other places to discuss Mormonism. I've never had even a single suggestion.

So I, for one, would love to see this list of dozens of critical places to discuss Mormonism that are better than MDB.

He doesn't have a list. He just has the same old kneejerk hyperbolic polemics that spew from his keyboard without thought.

It's getting really boring reading DCP's blog. After a couple years you realize it's on a loop.

I agree with MsJack that I'd love to see him list 24 Mormon critical venues period, let alone as the minimum example of Mormon critical venues better than here.

I'm really interested in the paradoxical component to his claim. What makes for a great source that's critical of the Church? If some forum out there just levels claims about the Book of Abraham does that make it better than this one since our arguments are so weak? Or is there a conflict of interest, and would a forum with easier arguments to handle be considered superior?

I'll throw him a bone here; he could flip this around and say we like the New MI better because they have weaker arguments for the Church and we only dislike Mopologetics because it's so effective.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

I’d like to see five that provide a forum for wide ranging discussion of Mormonism. I’ve seen nothing comparable to the Celestial Kingdom here. Maybe there’s a Mormonism debate subreddit?

Holy cow. In yet another instance of "it's a small world," their guest host is my girlfriend's ex-husband.
