Simon was on my Backyard Professor Live show and we also demonstrated Book of Mormon problems, mostly about Kennewick man and horses.

I believe she also use to post on the old FLAK board.MsJack wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 11:59 pmBlixa is doing well and living life.
Beastie definitely posted quite a bit on the original MDB, but I don't believe we've seen her here since the migration. I did not know her in real life. I hope she's okay.
As long as we're talking about missing posters: has anyone ever heard anything from EAllusion?

Thanks for this. I remember reading that paper, and thinking that only dating bits of charcoal near the bones was dubious, but thinking that the fact that some charcoal bits were really close to the bones might be worth something. Southerton's point about fresh carbon-14 in rainwater soaking the area clarified that. The charcoal dates are worthless no matter how close to the bones the wood was.tapirrider wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:54 amOutstanding review by Simon Southerton

It's a bit hard for me to understand the attitude of a guy like Wade Miller. Why does he publish this stuff? Is he just too incompetent to recognize that his evidence is no good? Or is he "obfuscating for the Lord" by sneaking meaningless papers into obscure journals so that Mormons who don't understand carbon dating can believe that there is enough conflicting scientific evidence to keep on believing in Nephite horses?
I was a teenager before it was cool.

All their attempts to explain away the anachronism in the Book of Mormon end up sounding absurd to me.hauslern wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:21 pmThanks so much guys. I asked that after viewing a youtube video by the Murph on anachronisms in the Book of Mormon. I am so lucky i have brain trust on this board.

Thanks for posting this. I've had more than a few Mormons tell me about this "discovery" and then tell me it proves the Book of Mormon.tapirrider wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:54 amOutstanding review by Simon Southertonhuckelberry wrote: ↑Mon Jul 24, 2023 9:37 pmThe subject of horses has come up recently. example is this excellent recent post.

It turns up quickly if you google "Texas Journal of Science horses". The lead author is Wade Miller, who retired from BYU in 2002 and has been a long-term champion of pre-Columbian American horses.

If I recall correctly Beastie was in her 50s way back in 2006-07 so hopefully she's living that sweet retired life.

I think she went by truth dancer before beastie.Res Ipsa wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:18 amShe did. I met her way back when. She was a kick to hang out with.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 12:34 am
I’m pretty sure she went by another name back in the ZLMB days. But I can’t remember what it was now. I had some conversations with her way back when. She went the rounds with Brant Gardner if I remember correctly.
I was very impressed with her knowledge and also her general civility as she presented her case for the Book of Mormon.

Wow, I haven't thought of beastie in a VERY long time. Pretty sure I owe her an apology, or two.
