I've not been following this thread carefully but I would add to the above that I hope Jenn knows that erasing her text never makes them disappear. The entire contents of a cell phone can be downloaded by LE, FBI, or most anyone with the motivation to learn how to do it and that is fact. Probably best not to ask me how I know.
Or, an attorney can spend 15 minutes preparing and sending a subpoena to the cell phone carrier.

In a few weeks a package will arrive from the cell phone carrier with print outs of all the text conversations and usually a thumb drive or a CD of the same. It's really not rocket science.
I’m betting they both use recent model iPhones. iMessage is end-to-end encrypted, the carrier won’t have more than meta data at best. LE needs an exploit in order to break into the physical Secure Enclave chip on the phone.

What if the Salt Lake County prosecutor is unwilling to admit they made a mistake (citing the precedent that they do not give or ask for apologies) and insist that the temporary restraining order had not been terminated? Could Kirton McConkie then help relitigate the case?

I got a nice chuckle thinking about the police officers and asst. district attorney that Kamp snookered into doing this. Good work, guys! Did she cry in your offices? Talk about how terrified she was when this happened THREE MONTHS earlier? Good grief. What a bunch of knuckleheads.

Don’t know how things work in Utah. The role of police and DAs can vary among jurisdictions. But often, the police investigate and then refer for prosecution, who also has to do some due diligence to check the underlying investigation. And then they can exercise prosecutorial discretion.

It’s so difficult to imagine that neither the PD or the DA checked the full status of the initial restraining order. That it was rescinded would be so easily discoverable. I’m not saying this didn’t happen, but if it did, it would show some serious negligence in the investigation.

The charge is being dismissed by the prosecutor.

They appear to be blaming it on the clerk, saying the computer system still showed the temporary order to be active.

This seems like an inadequate excuse to me.

Congratulations to John Dehlin! Jenn Kamp and Rosebud, this one's for you:

Next on As The Dehlin World Turns, Kamp files suit against poster Everybody Wang Chung for online microagressions. Seems #winning cut too close to the core. Also, Rosebud is seen clutching and kissing a picture of Dehlin behind the court house and then violently breaking it on the ground. "He'll get his!!!" she exclaims as she enters the court with papers in hand.

Stay tuned mormondom ...

Has Jenn Kamp considered filing a human rights violation against John Dehlin? Maybe crimes against humanity?

Seems like a crap show all around — for Kamp, for those reporting on this as if it’s something newsworthy, for those of us including me commenting on it as if it’s something that matters. Dealing comes off relatively clean, but for the fact that he’s a relatively insignificant blip who also really doesn’t matter much.

I was tempted to tell my nevermo co-worker, who knows next to nothing about Mormonism and exmormonism, about the controversy, but realized how ridiculous the whole thing would sound.

Just form a moment and try to look at this from the view of an outsider. Nobody looks good. Everyone seems irrational.

It’s just so stupid.
