Interesting timing here. I was just wondering why it is that criticism (I've yet to find an example of one that does not do this) of science is riddled with sarcasm and ridicule. Not of the ideas, just the people that have them.

Well, honestly, the reason I started this thread was because I wanted to know how a YEC would explain away the fact we can see stars that are over 6000 light years away. .

Basically they can't. However, there is always a clever (or not so clever) ad hoc way of getting around any given problem for YEC. For example, they could claim that stars are not really that far away at all or that the speed of light is not contant or that it isn't what we think it is. But modern science is an edifice of mutually supportive continually tested ideas and such ad hoc measures just create more problems than they solve--many many more.

Basically, they are claiming that the giant jigsaw puzzle of a detailed picture of Einstein that you just assembled is put together incorrectly and that it is really a picture of Kent Hovind--they just can't show you how the whole thing is put together in this absurd alternative way. They just object on a piece by piece basis.

That is what I am finding. Very similar to LDS apologetics.

No, not really. Over the last few days I have learned that Christian flat earth belief may very well be a myth. I could go back and edit, but I'll just let my blunder stand as a witness against me. *smile* Sorry, bestie.
