You should be happy about that! Who the hell wants to be bishop or a stake prez. I dreaded that would some day happen to me.

It's a response to whyme comparing Mrs Jack & her husband to the men who murdered Mormons in Missouri. It's called sarcasm. I didn't hear you talking about "ridiculous lengths" when why me did it.

Okay, let me try this again: MsJack brought up her tolerant protestant faith by mocking the GA counsel on piercings and her Mormon husband was gushing that all the relatives could see them get married by the wonderful protestant minister unlike in a Mormon temple ceremony. And how he got a piercing for her birthday. Her tone was mocking of LDS customs and practices.

I showed her that her wonderful protestant faith was not that tolerant in the past because protestants burned down Mormon homes in the 1830s. End of story.

That's not what she did at all. But I'm sure as a 19th century Mormon you would have enjoyed looting the corpses of the 140 dead Methodists you and your fellow saints murdered in cold blood.

She did. And she has now been silent on this thread because she knows that she was mocking of LDS religious practices and counsels. She certainly isn't telling what her intent was with her post.

Yep...definitely misunderstood and now you're being misleading. I never would think it "invalid".

This is a communication problem. Let's see if we can work through it.

To "overreact" is to have more emotion than the situation warrants.

You believe that Mrs. Consig reacted to the situation with excessive emotion.

You believe that to some people this situation is a big deal. To you, it "ain't no thing."

If this is a big deal to someone, please explain the appropriate amount of emotion that they can validly react with. A valid reaction and a warranted reaction mean just about the same thing in my mind.

When we validate the feelings, emotions and experiences of others we don't tell them that they are overreacting nor do we tell them stories about all the other LDS women we now who have had jobs outside the home.

If your wife were to have this reaction and tell you and you then responded to her the way you did in this thread I promise you she would feel a lack of validation.

Her point went flying over your pointy head. Just like the blood of the martyred Fancher party would have had you been alive in the 19th century.

stemelbow wrote:The point, I believe, is more along the lines of "you can be all those things and still be a Mormon".

Okay then. I look forward to the advertisements featuring Mormons with tattoos, Mormons who drink, Mormons who smoke, and Mormons who sleep with their girlfriends and then lie to their bishops about it. Because, I guarantee it, you can be all of those things and be Mormon.

why me wrote:I am not sure if having an ear piercing goes against counsel. But more than one piercing in the same ear may.

There is no commandment about marrying in the temple. It is recommended.

You really were a terrible Mormon, why me. Good thing you're not one anymore.

why me wrote:He can close with: And I am a Mormon who married an antimormon protestant, the kind that burned out the Mormons in Missiouri in the 1830's. Now I am antimormon myself. And my spouse and I are happy.

My husband would punch you in the face if you said this about him or his wife in person. I would make a big show of tugging feebly on his well-muscled arms and pretending that I didn't want him to.

why me wrote:In her post, she mentioned her faith and how her husband gushed that all family members could attend their wedding because it was a protestant wedding. She was also mocking what she perceived to be counsel from the GAs about piercings and getting married in the temple. I think that I had a good point about her take on doing a I am a Mormon series.

And so who reached a new low?

That's right, why me. Mocking a disingenuous ad campaign (which is what I mocked, by the way, NOT temple marriage) is exactly the same thing as accusing someone of having murderous impulses.

I thought you'd hit rock bottom before, but the bottom just dropped.

Please. I just checked in on this forum for the first time in five hours. I'm sorry I don't check it on the quarter-hour like you do, but it's called "having a life."

Face it, Why Me, you missed the point of Jack's post, big time. You either missed it intentionally, or you are really just THAT stupid. I'm really not sure which.
