Whyme's dishonesty has been brought up before. It's things like this that have so many putting him on ignore. I have seriously thought about it, but I just tend to ignore him most of the time.

Good grief. Why Me, I do find your posts terribly frustrating on occasion.
Actually racist ideas ARE still around today within the church, as Randy Bott's 'faux pas' so amply indicates.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world. Joseph Smith We are “to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to provide for the widow, to dry up the tear of the orphan, to comfort the afflicted, whether in this church, or in any other, or in no church at all…” Joseph Smith

Mary would never put me on ignore. Besides I just linked something from Brant that she will find interesting. My ideas seem to mesh with many others. Unfortunately, they find this board too unhospitable to post here. Go figure.

You get the treatment you deserve because you are dishonest. Mary brought up your dishonesty about black Africans, which you know no one brought up. This is why it is a straw-man, and to obvious to be anything but dishonesty on your part. I have also read Brant's arguments, and Mary will not find them interesting since it is easy to see he does not make a good argument. Read the section of Moroni seeking a Lamanite.
The Book of Mormon........ What a conundrum. A book directly translated by the power of god, where Joseph went out of his way to ensure that the words were correct, but where words do not mean what they mean.
Why Me, you must skim over my posts because I have already linked to that article. Yes I did read it (I read all the links you posted), no I didn't find it satisfactory, and as I have stated before, the curriculum materials for how the Book of Mormon should be read and understood concerning 'the skin of blackness' do not agree with Brant's approach.
Brant said:
The “skin of blackness” was certainly intended to be a pejorative term, but it was not a physical description.
LDS.org says:
Some people have mistakenly thought that the dark skin placed upon the Lamanites was the curse. President Joseph Fielding Smith (1876–1972) explained that the dark skin was not the curse:
“The dark skin was placed upon the Lamanites so that they could be distinguished from the Nephites and to keep the two peoples from mixing. The dark skin was the sign of the curse [not the curse itself]. The curse was the withdrawal of the Spirit of the Lord. …

Well, you know Mary, I do get my share of abusive posts that I must address and so I may miss a post once in a while.

Now, Mary, I want to tell you something that you may not understand but I will try to tell you anyway. Mind you I am making a great sacrifice now because I am watching RUtv from Russia and they have these beautiful Russian women singing their songs on Music Videos and I love to look at sexy Russian women dancing around in revealing clothing .....but I am here...so I hope that you appreciate it.....I don't care who said what about skin color. People have their opinions, including GAs. Unless they got a special revelation before their comment, I consider it an opinion. Nothing more. And so, there is a debate about it on here and on MDD and on blacklds.org. Such is the way it is inside a vibrant church.
