Well, it probably was more wholesome and less neurosis-affirming than JPatterson-Rosebud meet-ups.

I enjoyed their podcasts together with Robert Ritner. There was great synergy in the combined product.

I agree. They’re a good team, and I don’t think there’s any danger of John Dehlin being accused of sexually abusing RFM.

Thanks for the information. It's disappointing to find that out now, as it would have been something to disclose in the podcast defending Dehlin. Disclosing relationships is a pretty big deal in my industry, whether there is influence or not, and it certainly puts the podcast efforts in a different light. I don't watch any of his stuff, except for reading the transcript of that one because we were talking about it here. Maybe he said something but i don't recall, i was more interested in the documents.

I just visited her mormonrosebud site. She now claims to have sent the evidence to various organizations because it requires professional redacting. One of the orgs is Truth and Transparency Foundation, which closed shop before she made her announcement.

I also think Rosebud is crazy crazy, but let's keep the facts straight.

Thanks for catching my mistake. It came from my recollection that they had all but ceased operations nearly 2 years earlier. I guess the interesting piece now is, did they accept her documents? Did they even respond? or are the docs just sitting unopened in an email (figuratively).

The Salt Lake Tribune could be interesting, especially with the current environment surrounding "Me Too," but the fact that it has been silent from them could be telling that the evidence doesn't fit the narrative being pushed.

I wonder if the part of the reason that JD and Mormon Stories find themselves in a bit of a Groundhog's Day cycle has anything to do with the type of people who aspire/want to be podcasters/social media influencers (in addition to JD not being a good manager/people person). Some of the people I am close with that spend any amount of time posting on social media tend to feel slighted at the drop of the hat. Maybe it is my naiveté, but when the try and explain how someone "wronged" them, I don't buy all the circumstances and malicious intent.

Here is Roger McOmber's email to the board upon his resignation in late 2018, the same time Amy Grubbs was fired:

For Open Stories Foundation to evolve and grow it would take both a change in structure and John’s willingness to change behavior. In my opinion, having a revolving door management approach is less than optimal. As someone who truly believes in the mission, I sincerely hope to see these changes.

What in this letter says anything near what we're talking about? He's not saying John's a big jerk who bullies people here. He's not saying he's mistreated women. He's disagreeing with John about going from public to private as it suits him. Not attacking people, intimidating women and the like.

So you said multiple board members resigned for reasons regarding John's bad interpersonal behavior. one resigned for something else. Do you have anything on that?

Notice how Roger McOmber's email above contradicts John's narrative that Roger's time on the board was just magically up at the time

That is simply off-topic and therefore a distraction inserted to sour someone's taste for John. who cares? Get back on topic and support your claims, or you might just consider dropping it.

On the topic of the friendship between consiglieri and Dehlin, it might be important to contextualize this within the framework of RFM’s methodology in handling the issue. He was clearly wearing his attorney hat and not a journalist’s. Journalists disclose their ties to the people and organizations they report on. Obviously an attorney represents the interests of the client. It is understandable that a grey area exists when an attorney voluntarily makes a case that favors the perspective of one party on a podcast, which we are used to processing more as a form of journalism (maybe?), but I don’t think that any of this was done with conscious intent to deceive. RFM is an attorney, not a journalist, and his instincts are to conduct himself accordingly.

I certainly do consider John Dehlin to be a personal friend. But that is of the present. When the episode aired back in April 2021, I do not think I would’ve said the same thing.
