Why this prurient obsession with endless gossip and speculation?

Let's just call it "The Scratch Factor".

That's because they don't have free speech over there. They killed it immediately.

Yes, The Scratch Factor. That sounds good, and Carl and Charles like it as well (and well, you know, neither of them have too much influence where they are, but they are rather smart cookies you know).

B.F. says you should try to extinguish this kind of behavior, but he really dosn't understand the Internet, and the kind of conditioning needed for that would be difficult to apply to the cyberworld.

I think next time I put my face into this hat I'm going to try and contact Madalyn Murray O'Hair. She's been trying forever and a day to to get in touch with Mercury but he's been too busy yelling at Coggins lately. The still small voice must be given its due...

Yes they do. They just have standards that do not obtain in forums such as this. This isn't a "free speech" issue. You do, of course, have the right to speak. To be heard, however, is another matter entirely.

Chris is remarkably articulate, is he not? And has such an attractive vocabulary!

He used "evinces".

I fully intend to steal the "recursive self validation" phrase just as soon as I figure out what it means. Yes, he has many qualities that could be described as attractive. Stay away from him, KA!

Coggins is, indeed, an expert in not hearing people.

POINT TO PONDER: Even when Charity is absolutely, utterly, unequivocally incorrect in what she has stated, she's still somehow correct in her own mind. She will adduce grammar, irrelevantly, to attempt to demonstrate her correctness.

You're not the first to notice this particular trait. (In other words, when is an insult NOT an insult?)
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Sure. Low ones. The kind of standards that say it's acceptable to create an encyclopedia entry slandering an individual.

God forbid there should be a MormonDiscussions Wiki.

hana,

What you stated above is exactly what bothers me most about this. Bob is well able to take care of Bob, I have no doubt of that. FAIR wiki is presumably, intended to be an online encyclopedia. The article is very definitely tabloid in nature. This is their idea of what constitutes an encyclopedia entry?

It should also be noted that Bob McCue himself posted the threads on RFM (which was taken down) and postmormon.org, as he stated:

I am posting this message here in large measure to counter the negative effect of the FAIR article on my reputation. I have received enough messages from people in the post-Mormon community during the past few days to know that the FAIR article has widely circulated. When people google to find it, or stumble across it, I want this piece to come up as well.

So those, including Charity, Bob Crockett and others who are suggesting that others should not be posting on this, and that it somehow distresses Bob McCue that we are, should keep that in mind.

Bob shouldn't have to counter the attack on his reputation from FAIR by posting on other boards. Those who continue to justify FAIR in this regard and criticize others are completely upside down on this issue.

It is a shut down thread! It isn't on the front page. No, I really don't consider inactive threads to exist in the practical sense. That's sort of like the little old lady who calls to complain that the neighbors are sunbathing nude in their own backyard. The police arrive, and looking out the window can only see the neighbors 10 foot high fence. The little old says, "but when I get my step ladder out, and perch on the very top and hang onto the chandelier to keep from falling, I can see over the fence!"

Oh, yes, and the "free speech" issue. Is that the best argument you have? We can bring up a person's peccadillos as long as we say we are unhappy that somebody else is doing and what we are doing isn't wrong because we have free speech!
