Just here? I take Scratch as operating tongue-in-cheek. It is much more fun that way.

Mr. Scratch strikes me more of a hobbiest-provocateur, and his speciality is the Mormon apologist. Is that eccentric? Sure. Is it kooky? I suppose it is if you're the object of his agitations, and if you're prone to hurt feelings.
I'm sure he's just like the rest of the people who post on any given forum; he has interests outside of this forum, but it's clear he has a passion for haranguing Mr. Peterson and his ilk.
That being said, for me, to be able to see faces put to their Internet monikers was interesting. It makes Mormon apologia seem more folksy and amateurish knowing the people behind are so average, and in some cases goofy.

I think, on its face, such blanket observations would be amazingly difficult to substantiate in a meaningful way, especially cross-culturally.
