I've come to this conclusion. I don't need to know the truth of all things. I would like to know, but that might not be possible. I also have become less impressed with the value of faith. In the end, it's only pretending. I would much rather admit that I don't know than pretend that I do.
I have discovered that it is sometimes possible to know what is not true. I'm pretty sure that there is no such thing as the powers of evil. It's such an illogical premise. A God of evil? Silly on the face of it.
It doesn't bother me at all that you have doubts about my ability to know truth when I see it. I have doubts about my ability to do that too. I am starting to have confidence in my seeing what is just not true and only someone's fabrication.
An excellent response. There are so few who actually walk a spiritual path. Many say they do. So I know first hand how the world is filled with fake testimony. The truth is even harder to discern. It can come all wrapped in light or darkness. We just have to be patient. Something I have a great deal of problem with. I like most people jump to the shiny new thing often with terrible results.
If you ever do start a spiritual walk you will be confronted by evil. They don't show them self now because they are restrained. They will however manifest towards the end of this age. If that day comes just remember what I said. You may think it is silly and that is fine.
The path that you must take in order for you to know truth rest on knowing your self. Only then can you know what you are being exposed to without being filtered by your own agendas. I have no idea about you. I am making this as a general statement.
Actually, Joseph Smith's character is of little concern. It's his claims that matter and if you take but a moment to think about them, they seem preposterous. We are talking about someone claiming to see God, Angels, and have gold books land in their lap. Today, we would think someone that said things like that was completely nuts. So, there is no hope for such a person right?
Well, the problem is all the scriptures or holy books that many people hold in esteem contains accounts of people experiencing the same thing. It would seem to me that one should take a similarly dim view of their claims and question their mental state as well. In fact, as why me and I were discussing, the ONLY reason to believe any of this stuff is IF you experience it yourself. Without that witness, there is just no reason to believe any of it is true and you might as well just conclude they are all nuts, liars, frauds, and go on your merry way.
Confirmation bias. Because of the phony passed down interpretation that the Bible actually dealt with reality, others believed those stories and pretend to re-enact their experiences into their own lives.

I started that walk over thirty years ago, Frank. I haven't found any evil forces, yet. Maybe we are just walking different paths.
This, or any other post that I have made or will make in the future, is strictly my own opinion and consequently of little or no value.

I can not know what you do in a spiritual sense. There are many who walk in the spirit yet are not religious. Many on this site would disagree with what I just said. I will chat some more about this subject after I ponder it for a while.
