But God did intervene to help Sister Jones find her car keys so she could drive Jordan to her orthodontist appointment. D&C 59:21--confess God's hand in all things.
I attended a fast and testimony meeting where a member, as part of their testimony, related an experience that proved to her that God existed and that the Church was true. She was stood in a passport line waiting her turn to go through passport control. She was there with her family going on holiday. She became exceptionally worried that she wouldn’t be allowed through, and would be carted off and arrested. So she prayed for divine intervention to get her through passport control. She got through passport control no problem. She had a valid passport, no criminal history, was carrying no contraband etc. She, like hundreds of others with valid passports but who didn’t pray to be allowed through passport control, got through passport control. But that was her confirmation that God exists and the Church was true.

Imagine asking that member to explain why God intervened to help her through passport control, but didn’t intervene in <insert child abuse situation in which God didn’t intervene>. What would they say? I think secretly they would think they were special, which is why they were picked out for special help.
I would guess that the phenomenon of people wanting/thinking that God is involved in the little things in their life is not uncommon throughout the depth and breadth of humanity. Members of the church are not immune from wanting to think that God is in their lives, even in the little things. I would also hazard a guess that even those of little or no faith still have some kind of hope that an all-wise creator is watching over the affairs of this world and may know who we are as individuals.

Some may say they don't believe that...but like they say, there ain't any atheists in the foxholes.

Hmmm. Strange nonchalance coming from a self-professed believing Mormon. You doubt what those people are doing, following Mormon scripture (D&C 59:21) and confessing God's hand in all things?

I do think it is important to confess God's hand in all things. What do you think that actually means?

You dismiss it as "the phenomenon of people wanting/thinking that God is involved in the little things in their life" rather than full-throated praise for them for confessing God's hand in those things.

Again, what do you think it means to say that we ought to "confess God's hand in all things?"

Are you trying to rewrite D&C 59:21 to only include "some" things, when that passage says all things?
And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments.
Where is the wiggle room you are hoping for?

Nope. What do you think it means (now for the third time) to "confess God's hand in all things?"

To confess God's hand in all things means to acknowledge God's involvement "in all things." You seem to think it means something else, something lesser than as it reads.

I think it means something other than what you think it means. Every breath we take is a gift from a God who provided the means for us to be where we are located typing on a keyboard. I am fairly confident God had a hand in that way back somewhere. Any gift that I get I give acknowledgement to good fortune which ultimately, again, is the result of God's gift of the breath of life and a world where, if you're/we're lucky, experience some pretty cool things. But I don't expect his help in all things. Do you?

Or did you...and that didn't work out so well...and so you cursed and left behind the God you may have once believed in?

So you don't believe Mormon God, as relayed by Joseph Smith, means what D&C 59:21 says--"in all things"--just the ones you pick and choose for it to apply to, right?
