And what is the source for Joseph Smith telling Robert this? I see no source. Also, who was in the room when this happened? And why are you so willing to believe any heresay that may come your way?

Well, it seems to be heresay. There is something that gives the source but it isn't clear at all. I would think that this would have needed to have come from Robert but why would Robert spread this around? And why would he remain faithful to the end? It seems that this is a second hand source from someone who must have gotten it from Robert or it is made up.

This is what also struck me. I noted in the thread that Ray pointed out eariler that Shades' made mention of this same thing ... Shades where had you heard this before? Anyone else?

I am always excited to learn new things about the scriptures. Especially when I have identified a hole that Grant Palmer (courtesy of William Law) was good enough to fill in for me.

Yes, it is. However, when it comes to Mormonism in the early days, no one takes a neutral position. Including the source for this quotation by miss taken.
