I remember reading something where seventy-percent of married BYU females who took a survey- which was created by a sociology professor - reported that they had had sex prior to marriage.

Wow. I'd like to hear more about this survey as well, if anyone has information.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Nehor, you got me. I guess I had to open it. Wish I hadn't.
I think it would be morally right to lie about your religion to edit the article favorably.

If I recall correctly, the article was quoting something in sunstone. This was like ten years ago that I read it. I've searched for it with google but can't seem to get the right hit.

Alter Idem wrote:I didn't even open this thread over a madb, but now you've peeked my interest Zoidberg. I'm curious who started it and if anyone else commented on how over generalized this is and the fact that three years "experience" in dating in Draper doesn't account for much to draw sweeping conclusions. I also think it's inappropriate for him to be discussing these young women and mentioning what their fathers do. It wouldn't be too hard to figure out who he's talking about if a reader happened to be in his ward or stake--and the church can be a pretty small community that way.

What I don't understand is that it hasn't been closed--from what's been posted here it doesn't sound like a thread that would remain open long on madb, or at least it should have been edited to remove the more "explicit" references.

Maybe the mods are away from the board.

Thanks, Alter Idem, for bringing it up. I should have known better than to repost the personal stuff, duh!

Looks like you brought it up to the mods' attention over at MAD, as well. They probably didn't catch it sooner because we all know that they feel much more relaxed about monitoring the "faithful" posters.

That's exactly what I got. He's the guy that takes girls out but constantly ends up in "friend zone". He says "I've also had the opportunity to steady date 6 girls in high school, and over a dozen post-high school". Using the insecure male romantic formula and divide by 3 equals 1-2 real girlfriends. And 5-7 dates total (although some girls didn't realize it was a date).

He becomes the non-threatening safe male that gets to listen to girls complain about boyfriends and transgressions but never gets to close the deal.

Man, every time I read these kinds of things implying that most Mormon kids are out there transgressing I just get more and more pissed off. Was I the *only* one that took it so seriously that I missed out on all the fun? I took out a handful of girls at BYU, am I the only one that didn't dry hump or even cop a feel? WAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

I know that feeling well. I talk to my friends who are active, and they all did stuff I never would have done when they were younger. My friend who works at the COB told me about his days of getting drunk every Friday night the summer after his mission. Other people tell me of their sexual exploits and Word of Wisdom issues, and I wonder why I was the only one who took things seriously. But it makes sense to me that they stayed and I left. They didn't take it seriously and still don't, to some extent.
