One issue regarding the First Vision that I always wanted to hear more about, was when Grant Palmer said in his Mormon Podcast interview with John Dehlin, that Joseph sat down after almost all the original members and witnesses left, and reworked the First Vision. They left this issue hanging, but I wanted to know more of the details about this.

Charity, rather than just "report", why don't you ask the question about multiple First Vision accounts?
Why should that come up? The purpose of the lesson is not to teach multiple accounts of the First Vision, the explanation for different facts in each acocunt. This is not a history lesson. It is a lesson about the "teachings" of the Propeht Joseph Smith. The following are listed as lessons we can learn.
*The example Joseph Smith provides for us as we seek answers to our questions. As you study his account of the First Vision, what do you learn about reading the scriptures? about pondering? about prayer?
•The truths Joseph Smith learned about God the Father and Jesus Christ when he received the First Vision. Why must each of us have a testimony of the First Vision.
• When Joseph told others of the First Vision, many people became prejudiced against him and persecuted him. Why do you think people reacted in this way? Ponder Joseph’s response to the persecution. How can we follow his example when we face persecution or other trials?
• When you first learned of the First Vision, what effect did the account have on you? What effect has it had on you since then? In what ways have you been strengthened as you have studied the account again in this chapter?
Can you see anywhere in here a place for a discussion of why we don't repeat verbatim an account of a significant event in our lives?
he he, you are actually trying to insulate people from facts that they might love to know! You are part of the problem. Spill the beans on what you know in church pleeez!
Also, why shouldn't what was in the several accounts and how they differed be relevant for understanding Joseph Smith's teachings? He wrote them down for a purpose didn't he? He included what he included in the various versions for a reason didn't he? Are you censoring the prophet to protect the sheeple?
when believers want to give their claims more weight, they dress these claims up in scientific terms. When believers want to belittle atheism or secular humanism, they call it a "religion". -Beastie
