I attend a Methodist church, and the Methodist position on taking what is referred to in my congregation as the Lord's Supper, is that of an "Open Table". It's the position of the UMC that communion be denied to no one desiring it. Whether or not the blessings of communion are efficacious is a result of the individual worthiness of the communicant, and that worthiness is determined by God, and not man.
I do know in some denominations communion is denied to unbaptized individuals or those unconfirmed, but not in Methodist churches.
I went to a methodist church a few times. I was told I could not take the sacrament as I was not confirmed. I knew the vicar well and he knows I am Mormon. I knew his family and a lot of people in the church. I was active in the LDS church but went to lots of things at this methodist church and I also went to the SA church on thursdays. I even got the missionaries to go there once. I don't think they knew what to expect and couldn't get out of there quick enough, leaving me to awnser difficult questions.
I also went to a strange party like church on a friday night. This is whyI was so confused back then. I could see these different churched all viewed Jesus differently.

It's a shame that happened to you. It must be a rouge congregation, or not a United Methodist Church (UMC) congregation. There is official policy on who can take communion. If anyone ever wants to find any information on the UMC, it can be easily accessed at UMC.org.
The only thing that I can imagine that possibly would have made the vicar want to deny you communion is that you are not, according to the Methodist church, a baptized Christian. That may have played a role in his decision. I don't know.
Also, the missionaries also should not have abandoned you there. I guess they didn't want to answer the tough questions.

You need to move to a lower elevation near large mountains to get that.
I wished for that growing up in Utah, snow in the mountains and rain in the valley. The lower elevation areas of northern California are exactly that climate, which is why I live here. Snow and many ski resorts are only an hour drive from here.
Today was a mix of rain and sun with temps in the 50s.

The past couple of years have been great in Utah. If it did snow in the valley's, it was melted in a couple of days. Not this year.

I spent a few hours today in the Utah mountains. That's how I worship. I never was one who enjoyed sitting in a smelly pew with a hundred people and call it spiritually uplifting, so I'm happy for your break today, Harmony! I was glad to be home, sure could have used your stew. ;)

*sigh* You're making me homesick. I grew up in Northern California. I miss it. :(
