It seems to me like he didn't support them equally. Am I misremembering?

No, you're not misremembering, that is DEFINITELY true. His favorite wives were, well, favored, while others pretty much had to fend for themselves.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

Hi Jersey Girl,
And do you know what, TD? When we read about celebrities or know people who procreate indiscriminately, we condemn them for their irresponsible behavior.

Exactly. I would say most of civilized society believe fathers should take responsibility for their children. Men who leave their children are not praised. Men who "spread their seed" are not idolized.

Today we honor great fathers, and understand their value in the lives of children.

In the early church it just seems there was little concern for fatherhood, children, families, or, obviously women. It was all about the church. As if humans were placed on the earth to create the LDS church. It just seems so backward to me; really against what I consider holy or enlightened. I have the sense that religion should be more about giving hope, healing, and help to our human family.

Well, I condemn them. I shouldn't claim to speak for the collective "we".

I think you speak for the majority of decent human beings. ;-)
