Because in the particular news story I'm thinking of the victim told the cameras that he had always been an avowed atheist and that this kind of crime proved him right.

Typo or are you just making it up as you go along? :)

Why don't you just say you believe in God and what he does in your life and stop making generalized statements about others and information you're not privy to? It irritates me every time you say you're so blessed for this and that and imply other people have misfortunes because they somehow deserved it.

There were three people who were in the house that lived. If I were making it up as i went along I can assure you that it would involve velociraptors flying F-16s.

I did say God blessed me for what happened in my life. Then YOU asked me to explain how that applied in a general sense.

Or, T-rex's in F-14's?

Nehor, observe:

I wonder if God came through for those you were watching on the news that might have been asking for protection? Nice guy, indeed.

You made a statement about God helping you and being a nice guy. I didn't dispute that God may have helped you with protection and in your case was a nice guy (although I don't believe this). I asked you if you thought those on the new stories were protected by this same nice guy God?

You then replied with this:

I'm guessing they weren't. Many of them in fact seemed like they probably wanted God to butt out of their life. Can they really complain that he did?

You claim that "many of them in fact seemed like they probably wanted God to butt out of their life." I asked you how you concluded this? You say you used deductive reasoning from ONE news story and your own life to conclude this.

You then backtrack and say this:

I didn't try to explain God's power of protection throughout the world. Just for me. Hooray Me!!!!! I'm the only person whose life I can even semi-adequately examine. I use my observations, my reasoning, my experiences, and my evaluations to make suppositions. What else should I use?

I did say God blessed me for what happened in my life. Then YOU asked me to explain how that applied in a general sense.

No. You made a statement that "many of them in fact seemed like they probably wanted God to butt out of their life" and I followed up with that claim and asked you how you deduced this. I didn't ask you to explain your blessings in a general sense. I made a questioning remark if this nice guy came through for others -- yet, didn't ask for you to prove this statement as you'd made no mention of it. Your later remarks about others NOT getting help from God is what I followed up on.

Is there a better place to lift material from? I changed it a bit for believability. T-Rex's don't fit in modern jet fighters and the F-14 is an interceptor ill-suited for ground attacks of the kind that would make the best made-up news story if I chose to concoct one.

The exact fighter model was changed in that panel as a matter of retrograde security.

Okay, I just caught this. I'm slow. I think maybe Paul is just pulling our collective leg.

Do parents have the right to scare their kids about Global Warming?

Do parents have the right to scare their kids about playing with fire?

Do parents have the right to scare their kids about getting sick from playing with dead animals?

Does the fact that parents belive that hell is a real consequence of certain choices make a difference?

What does one thing have to do with the other? Having the right to believe something does not give someone the right to scare the crap out of children to the point that it is emotional abuse.
We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart.
