Well it's just so darn easy, and you set yourselves up for it.

He has made some pretty embarrassing remarks since he has been here.
And Beastie backed him up to a wall rather quickly on Book of Mormon stuff.
So, what is he good at? He says he likes the Ostler book, but hasn't said anything about it much.
I am sure he is a nice guy though. At least, he comes across that way in his super videos!
Oh, and he gave us a preview of the future of Mormon apologetics by introducing us to the young 18-year old high school student, Brother Smoot. (Secret: the guy has demolished all the critics' arguments to the Book of Abraham problems!) Bright future ahead, indeed, for Mormon apologetics!
Again, this has nothing to do with the OP. What is with you people?
Seriously.

You started taking it off line with your 'In Praise of Kerry Shirts' remarks to GoodK. You need to better follow your own posts in the thread, or perhaps stop making so many so that you can stay on top of them all.
I just followed along with your derail. You could have just sent GoodK a pm, rather than go into your song of praises for Mr. Shirts.
And, who are 'you people' ? Seriously.
As to the question in the OP? I thought it was pretty well said already. Stupid, at best.
Another one he had recently: 'Never ask why......' Go find it, Jersey Girl, and quote it for us in context. Brilliant thinking, indeed.

Would that be easier for you than responding to people who disagree with you?
FYI: I supported and promoted this board before it ever went online and before you were ever a part of it, GoodK.
I have "known" some of the posters I mentioned and several others for gosh, nearly 10 years now.
The constant influx of vitriol, mocking, gossip mongering, and vindictive side shows that have recently become a large part of what constitutes this board aren't "discussions".
They are counter productive intrusions on discussions. I'm not degrading this board, I'm opposed to the above mentioned conditions that have become a cancer on this board.
You're free to your opinion. I, myself, almost never agree with the connections that he makes and yet, I am able to disagree with him (and others) without mocking and ridicule.
I say it [Shirts is far more well read than the majority of posters on this board] because it's true.
Is Errol Morris a poster on this board?
You are again, free to your opinion, however you opinion and your dismissive posts on this thread are not a response to the ideas laid out in the OP.

You are proof texting via your presuppositions and personal biases. If context is not important to you, I can't help you out there, GoodK.
As it stands, your opinion was expressed by simple ridicule.

God almighty, gramps. You're not being honest. GoodK took it off topic with his personal remarks about Kerry.
You people are those who make a thread about the person instead of the ideas forwarded in the OP.
Unfortunately Brother Shirts cannot utter three sentences without mocking and ridiculing "antis" - thus my disdain for him.

Ahhhhhh........ now I understand!
O.K., well this is an easy fix.
Sentence # 1 - Daniel Peterson's article "Nephi and His Asherah," found in the wonderful read of a book, Mormons, Scripture, and the Ancient World, Studies in Honor of John L. Sorenson, FARMS, 1998: 191-243, is one of the best expositions of how the Book of Mormon reflects the genuine Ancient Near Eastern Worldview of religion I have ever seen in print.
Sentence # 2 - John Tvedtnes' incredibly well researched and well written text The Book of Mormon and Other Hidden Books, FARMS 2000, has I believe, convincingly shown how the story of the Book of Mormon has incredible ancient parallels and concepts which simply were not known by Joseph Smith's 19th century world, and which Joseph Smith (even unknowingly) got correct and accurate.
Sentence # 3 - Brent Lee Metcalfe's stunningly interesting book New Approaches to the Book of Mormon: Explorations in Critical Methodology, Signature Books, 1993, is in some ways quite brilliant book, yet deeply flawed due to preconceived notions. The authors however are tobe congratulated for attempting a dialogue while being serious about the Book of Mormon instead of merely mocking it.
There ya go GoodK. Happy now? You MORON! GRIN!
