Are there people still posting images like that here now? I didn't notice it but I've been reading mainly one thread and randomly looking in others. I think you can only regulate "tone" to a certain point and then you have to leave the door open for free expression.

It's a hard line to draw and I think Shades knows that.

Good catch. I should put up something to that effect. (I also need to add the rule about smilies.) The rules for the Off-Topic Forum should be/will be the same as for the Terrestrial Forum.

NOTICE:

Since the site was down for two days this past month, the experiment will likewise be extended for two days. THEREFORE, our boardwide mega pow-wow will take place beginning Saturday, January 3, 2009.

It's probably for the best anyway, since so many will be busy with the New Year's celebrations.

I have no interest in this board becoming a "MAD lite", nor do I believe the other Mods have an interest in this.

I, like Shades, would simply like this board to evolve into what the majority of posters would like to see it evolve to.

Debate CAN exist without ad hom behavior. Although we have not been able to catch everything, and there have been some complaints about consistency, overall, I have enjoyed the increase in civility and respect toward each other that has come out of this experiment.

Even if the "new Moderation" is voted down, I sincerely hope, that as adults, we will moderate ourselves in a more adult way, and think twice about the value of the friendships many of us have forged here. I know that I have tried harder to remember that there is a PERSON reading the words I'm typing.

Looks like the trailers are getting pushed out by the tract MA&D housing subdivision.

I thought the Celestial forum was for MA&D like discussions? I will allow a TBM to go in there and cream their jeans talking sappy lies about Joe & Co. The Terrestrial forum is where the cold shower starts for these TBMs.

And the Telestial? Remember the scene from the original Planet of the Apes where they get hosed down in their cages? Yeah just like that, just like the description reads.

Otherwise the winds of change are getting strong enough to form a tornado that just might flatten Shady Acres.

The way I see the Celestial is for intellectually honest discussions which should be pretty much devoid of personal attacks. So I don't see it as a forum level on this board, to protect a particular point of view.

I agree and respect that.

Can we get the descriptions/rules of the lower changed? Perhaps a name change as well --middle level of CK and lower level of CK.

You're a freakin' [MOD: Edited out] and a [ibid.], and moreover you have little knowledge of the subject matter. I'll bet you [MOD: outrageous and inflammatory material edited out] and that you also [MOD: We can't believe you would say that, and a bishop too].

I recommend youget a mod chat, that is a chatroom where mods can get together to discuss things. I have seen this before and can be very useful. You can have password protected rooms.

Also, is there a clear list of the rules?

Huh, this coming from someone who QUIT and pulled his trailer out of Shady Acres a few months ago.
