I'm not sure what you mean.
Yes, it's a professional choice, and yes I realize that is sounds somewhat strange or paranoid... but think of it this way: I get paid to keep data that's supposed to be secret secret. If I can't even keep my own personal data secret, what does that say about my ability to keep other people's data secret?
And yes, I've started to trust things like Facebook, with their new privacy settings, which is why I felt comfortable enough starting a Facebook account.

Sorry, Stak. It's kind of hard to explain. I just don't want to risk any breach of trust between myself and my clients. It's really that simple.
"hard to explain" = "I can't figure out a convincing way to elaborate upon this falsehood."

Simon, this isn't believable on any level. Your job, as you've described it, is shared by hundreds of other people. You can head on over to LinkedIn and find person after person who works in network security. So your claim that this is some kind of special professional "choice" is totally bogus.
Plus, you say you're an "independent contractor." What, you pick up new clients by being totally undetectable? Gee, I bet your business is really successful.
This has to be one of the most transparent of your many lies, Simon.
At what point do you start to feel sick about what you're doing? Has the Church somehow convinced you that all of this is OK?

This comment deserves a reply: I have enough semi-long term clients to keep me busy into the foreseeable future. The rest of my clients, past and present have all come by referral. Of course I have business cards and I am signed up with a contracting agency that helps find leads and match clients with contractors.
I wish you could be nice to me, as I have been to you in this thread.

There ya go, Simon. That's what I was talking about. What's the Web address for this contracting agency?

I can well understand your reluctance regarding these other clients. Knowledge of the operating parameters for the Orbital Laser Cannon should be closely guarded. Best not to become the canary in the mine for Scientology if certain security operations were compromised.

You can't expect me to give out that information, Scratch.
Now, I've been cordial to you in this thread, turned over a new leaf in fact, and I expect you'll do the same be satisfied with the answers I gave.
That's not satisfactory at all, Simon. People would be incredibly foolish to trust anything you say in light of your answers on this thread.
