I left years before they started returning. I will never go back. Just makes me too angry.

Sorry to hear that you are a prejudice catholic. Maybe you should talk to the priest about your unpeaceful heart and soul. Remember to find love and not hatred.
I intend to lay a foundation that will revolutionize the whole world.

I guess as Mormons we must therefore accept the following as part of our heritage too:
Racism
Polygamy
Polyandry
Sexism
Murder
Swindling
Lying
Banking...oh, wait...I already said swindling
I don't know. It seems that former members like yourself seem to attempt to find negatives within a sea of positives. Truly amazing. I am sure that excatholics and exprotestants must dwell on the negatives found in catholic and protestant history or anywhere else to give justification for decisions. But I really haven't heard excatholics moan catholic history as the exmormons on this forum and on other exer forums. However, if you are an american, you will need to put on your shoulder: racism, sexism, murder, swindling, lying, cheating, poverty, hegemony, imperialism etc.
Of course, I do hope that you can find a place that is perfect.

Only illustrates the fact that Mormonism is a distillation of the evils of America. However, if you are an american, you will need to put on your shoulder: racism, sexism, murder, swindling, lying, cheating, poverty, hegemony, imperialism etc.
I will not go home as an anger-control measure. And once I realized that Brighamites are a product of their own sick culture, I can shrug it off. Particularly if I can be very closed-mouthed about where I was born and raised. In those ways, I can avoid being the whipping-girl for Brighamite bigotry.

Please talk to a priest about your hatred for Mormons. It is uncatholic to have such hatred. If people would hate catholics like you hate Mormons, maybe you would understand my point.

Re: Nauvoo doesn't feel like our heritage
I enjoy Nauvoo. My family has gone there every year for the past 8 years. We participated in the pageant last year and we are heading back tomorrow to do so again this year. I have not seen any animosity between either the locals or the LDS. In fact they have let us rehearse in the Jr High every year. They allow us to camp at their sites free (pageant cast). I rather think they enjoy the attention it gets on a yearly basis and they do like the boost in the economy. Many locals and other churches help with setting up for the pageant and the country fair. Here is a link from a recent article in the Keokuk Daily News. http://www.dailygate.com/articles/2011/ ... 725191.txt
Some local (non members) are even in the cast this year. It does not matter if you feel you do not have a connection to Nauvoo historically or culturally but if you are a Latter-day Saint it is a part of our heritage just by being members in the church. Hope this will help clear up some confusion.

Actually, ir's crammed down every member's throat. It's not as bad as the worship of the pioneers, though.
Welcome, Woodzulu.
(Nevo, Jan 23) And the Melchizedek Priesthood may not have been restored until the summer of 1830, several months after the organization of the Church.
